Baby Baptism

Every now and then I want to let you know what’s happening faith-wise in our family, how Christ influences everything we do, and how we pass on what we learn to our daughters so that they can grow up, mature in the faith.

At age five, my youngest, Laurel Ann, was handing out Gospel tracts; at age 6, she made her open air preaching debut  at a stop light. Now, my 9-year-old baby is making her public profession of faith through the waters of baptism. (Our eldest, D.D. was baptized two years ago.)  She understands that baptism doesn’t save her, only faith in Jesus Christ does this. Notice her beaming parents.

We believe in a “Believer’s Baptism.”

Hollywood Anti-War Protest, Pt. 6: Police Action

The LAPD were everywhere watching everyone’s every move. After all, this mix of pro-Gaddafi, anti-American radicals didn’t trust anyone…

The ANSWER L.A. leftist anti-war march had come to its end in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater where one angry red-faced activist after another shouted and ranted from the back of a truck bed about the evils of our free-enterprise, capitalist system whose form of government allows them to freely dissent without the threat of arrest. (Start the series at part 1 by clicking here.)

For the evangelism team, this was our opportunity to preach the Gospel from atop a high columned structure where Jimmy Kimmel Live! is taped. The protesters were plum tuckered out after several miles of walking and chanting and yelling and had their fill of tirades from long-forgotten gray-haired Jerry Reuben wannabes; maybe they’d be in the mood to hear about Jesus? Ya think?

We were all ready to preach with evangelistic  fervor when a kind officer from L.A.’s Finest stopped by and inquired, “Do you have a permit?”

“Uh, no,” I replied.

“You know you are on private property? You have to get off of there.”

Talk about disappointment. This was supposed to be the highlight of the march: preaching to everyone while they were standing still and relatively quiet. What a bummer!

Then the officer pointed toward the pooped protesters and offered a bit of helpful  information that allowed us to continue to preach:

Saturday Evangelism Adventure: Huntington Beach

A year and a half ago I interviewed Ray Comfort in Huntington about his success in refuting a mythical, mostly atheist fairy tale for grown-ups. Here it is again in case you missed it. (Nearly 3,000 people have viewed it and here are the ratings: 27 likes, 78 dislikes. Guess who didn’t like the video? In fact, a famous atheist re-cut it and made his own video called “Why do People Laugh at Creationists, Pt 31” which got over 400,000 hits! See it here.)

This Saturday we will be joining Ray and his team down in Huntington Beach. Meet at Hope Chapel at noon to carpool. We leave promptly at 12:15—so don’t be late! Or meet us at the base of the Pier at about 1:15pm.

Did you know that we are doing more this week, too?
