The Everyday Club Report for September: The shocking thing that happened to me

Believe it or not, something happened in Southeast Asia that hasn’t happened to me before and I hope never happens again….

As you probably know by now, I was away with several other members of my church on a short-term mission trip to Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, that is why this Everyday Report is late. We did a lot of interesting things, most of which I cannot share on a public forum. What I can share is that we did repeat a lot of what we did last year when we proved God’s existence by tangible  expressions of his love. (You can read about that here.)

Below is one of the many water wells donated to poor villages by Hope Chapel members.

The thing that was very disconcerting was what I didn’t do for at least two weeks, but am able to do now. Here it is:

The Everyday Club Report for August: Dusty Bibles?

I am thankful that you are a member of The Everyday Club. Given the sad statistic that 2% of Christians share their faith regularly, it’s great to see others remaining faithful.

To help me stay faithful I make it a point to read my Bible every day, too.

I like the One Year Bible because each day’s reading is broken up into four segments: One portion from the Old Testament, one portion from the New Testament, one from Psalms and another from Proverbs. I am currently reading the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs.

The Everyday Club Report for July: More Than an Anthem Writer

Francis Scott Key was born on this day in 1779. Of course, we all know him as the writer of our National Anthem, but there’s probably a few other things you didn’t know about him. Did you know that he was a dedicated Christian who considered a life in ministry? According to The One Year Book of Christian History he

“was one of the founders of the American Sunday School Union and served on its board for many years. While he was on the board they launched the 1830 Mississippi Valley Campaign which sought to establish a Sunday school in every town in a 1.3 million-square mile area within two years.

The Everyday Club Report for May: Preacher Interrupted!

If you have decided to share your faith everyday, you can expect some tense encounters. This 9 second video shows a very disturbing incident I had with a security guard at last weekend’s Fiesta Hermosa, a twice-yearly street fair held in our community. I explain what happened below.

As is my custom at this event I preach to the hundreds standing in line to get on the shuttle bus that takes them back to their cars. I stand in a meridian in the center of the street and preach a very friendly, yet serious message, about what should happen to those standing in line if they would die today. 99% of the time these sessions go without incident. This time, I was part of the 1%, and Security wanted to Occupy my time….
