Loving Lawless Lovers of the Lord

Periodically, I re-post articles from the past to encourage those who practice Biblical evangelism. This one I include in my 10 week class. I hope you find this helpful:

Even though there is a wealth of evidence from Scripture, history, and the great teachers of the past (including Jesus, Paul, Peter, Martin Luther, Wesley and Spurgeon) in regard to the efficacy of using the 10 Commandments in a Gospel presentation, you will still face the greatest opposition when sharing your faith in this way from… Christians!

Yes, Christians.

Some of the most difficult people to reason with are religious people, people of faith… nay, followers of Christ.

Make sure that when you share this Biblical principle of using the Law with a believing friend that you remain reasonable. Don’t fight. Don’t argue about it. Remain calm. Take a deep breath and…

Sudden Death: Grand Canyon

A 77-year-old Englewood woman was killed last week during a river outing in the Grand Canyon. She died instantly. Read the rest here.

American Idol Finals 2011: What Didn’t Happen

Lots of stuff can happen when we preach the Gospel to Organic Congregations…. You can always expect a boisterous SHAADAAP! and a One Finger Salute or two. I’ve had liquid thrown at me while preaching at a beer garden, a glass shatter on a pole in front of me as a customer missed his target (me); loudspeakers have been thrown down or unplugged; I’ve been pushed off a wall from behind and pulled down from a structure in front… and I’ve even been slapped!

What’s amazing is when nothing happens. And that’s what happened when we preached to the thousands in line at the 2011 American Idols Finals, the Sing-Off. Nothing happened as a mostly white and female crowd patiently endured our short Gospel messages, preached up and down the line for about 3 1/2 hours. (Don’t worry. We didn’t harangue the crowd, but they did hear the message at least twice.)

Here’s a 2 minute overview of what happened while we shared our faith followed by some tag team preaching by myself and “Righteous” Richard Chavarria.

Now see the actual message we preached…

THIRD RAIL EVANGELISM

What do you do when you are with someone who absolutely hates/is squeamish/embarrassed/or dies a million deaths when you try to give the Gospel to a lost person? Like when you are with your wife, sister, or shy Christian friend… Do you not give the Gospel? Do you push through and risk alienating your acquaintance? Or maybe, you ask their permission to do it?
