The Indiana House has opened its 2007 session with an official prayer that was carefully crafted so as not to violate a federal judge’s ban on sectarian invocations. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Blue Line commuter train Friday afternoon, a transit official said. The incident occurred about 4:30 pm as the southbound train approached Spring St. at Del Mar Ave. The male victim was not identified. –From L.A. Times, 1/6/07
