Two years of Christmas coverage on three networks produced a scant 1.3 percent of stories mentioning the deity. The true message of Christmas, the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ, has simply been ignored by the mainstream media. Read the rest from CMI.

    I read the article with interest. All very true. I had only one exception to the story via this statement:

    “Every year, millions of Americans celebrate the most important Christian holiday by reflecting upon the significance of the birth of Christ.

    The official observance of the birth of Christ is not biblical. We have not been called to remember and celebrate the event of His birth. We all know that the origins of Christmas was a man-made concept turned tradition. Being of worldly beginnings, it is, therefore, not “the most important Christian holiday”.

    What we Christians are biblically called to remember and focus on 365 days of the year is Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection, the reason why He came to earth in the first place.

    There is no argument that the magnificently miriaculous way in which the Savior came to earth and the surrounding events of His birth is a wonderful (and terrible re: Herod’s slaughter of baby boys) account of truth. But it was not meant to be recognized as “the most important” event Christians are to remember and celebrate.

    “Christ’s Mass” belongs to the world. It does not, therefore, really disturb me that the world treats it’s own.

    You do realize you sound like an entitled child, right?

    “Oh boo hoo, I’m part of the largest religion in the world and yet the news won’t talk about me all the time!”

    It’s the news, Steve: you’d be hardpressed to find an American that is wholly ignorant of the Jesus story. Do you just want the gospel reported on every week or so?

    Not every week. Every day.

    Why? Because we are NOT part of the “largest religion” in the world. “Knowing” about Jesus doesn’t save anybody. Aside from those of other faiths, including atheism, most of the billions of people who profess to be Christians are actually not. So they are in need of the gospel as anybody else.

    The world could use a daily dose of Good News for a change. Is that so wrong?

    Just depends on what you believe Paul, in the interest of fairness should the news begin to report on the Good News reported in the Torah, the Koran, the Bhagavad Gītā, the Puranas, or Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints? I mean really take your pick. Plus Paul… that’s a pretty huge judgement to say that most Christians “aren’t really Christians” excuse me Sir, but you are NOT God, so who are you to judge people in the way they practice Christianity? The statement you make is the primary reason WHY there are so many different sects of Christianity in the first place, if you start thinking that THOSE Christians aren’t practicing the religion correctly according to your interpretation of the Bible then they aren’t true Christians and you and your group of people congratulations you’ve founded another sect, its funny how Biblical interpretation drives Christians further apart rather then unites them under one Church.

    Not surprised at all that this is going on, though I would like to hear about the numbers for 2010. I noticed that the grocery store I work at this year played a lot more Christ-centered Christmas music than it did last year when I first started the job. That is encouraging. It just shows what happens when believers stand up and say, “You don’t want my Jesus than you aren’t going to get my money.”

    In all fairness, sure, why not? Let all religions have their say. But only ONE will bear Good News via the gospel of Jesus Christ. No other faith system preaches the truth.

    Jesus said so Himself: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

    The gospel is the ONLY path that leads one to repentance and faith in Christ for the forgiveness of sins and the granting of eternal life in Heaven, by God’s grace.

    Unfortunately, many denominations under the banner of “Christianity” preach a different gospel than what the Bible teaches. It’s distorted on many levels, deceiving many and is therefore heretical.

    So for those who profess to be ‘Christians’, but reject the truth of God’s Holy Word in the Bible, they will find themselves in no better stance before God on Judgment Day than those of other belief systems, including atheism, no matter their sincerity or how good a person they had been.

    That is biblical! This is NOT my judgment upon them, nor my wish for them. So much so I am compelled to take the gospel to the streets in one way or another everyday so that others who may not have heard of the one true and eternal life saving gospel may have an opportunity to receive it; that God may do a work in their heart, as He graciously did in mine, to grant them repentance and faith in Christ, that they may be saved.

    I care! I’m not sitting on my duff doing nothing but enjoying the security of my salvation. Nor because I am a true Christian do I think myself better than you or anyone else. Better off in the longrun, yes, but as long as you live and breathe, you also have an opportunity to humbly confess to God that you are a sinner in need of a Savior for you salvation. But you have to do that before you die, and you have no absolute assurance that you will even make it to the end of this very day.

    Christ died for ‘sinners’ and the ‘ungodly’. Are you in either camp?

    You know, Paul… those other religions say the exact same thing. For example, Islam claims to be the only correct way, and that Christianity will send a person to Hell.

    Now, Paul, here’s the big question: How do you suggest that I, as a current non-believer, decide on which of these is correct? What process do you suggest that I use?

    Anyone else can also answer this question; it’s not directed at Paul only.
