What is your New Year’s evangelism goal?

Four years ago, after hearing a New Year’s message at my church where one of the points in the sermon was: “This coming year Christians should evangelize more” (or something like that), I made a commitment to share my faith everyday. I didn’t know how to do it; I didn’t know what to say; I don’t even know why I made that commitment, but I did, and that has been my goal ever since: to share my faith everyday with at least one person. I have since amended it to sharing my faith everyday with at least one person or handing out ten Gospel tracts.

I am recommiting for yet another year, and hope to make this my goal for the rest of my life. This is a goal and sometimes I fall short of that goal, but I have kept it up for the last four years and am amazed at what God continues to do.

Do you have an evangelistic goal of your own? What is your commitment in sharing the good news? If you don’t set a goal, you will reach it everytime. I will be encouraged to hear what you share…

The long and short of it:

    1999: Saved!
2002: Started sharing gospel 1 to 1 (daily) in best way I knew how.
2003: Comfort & Cameron come to town! Attended 10 week WOTM course.
2004 to 2007: Sharing gospel 1 to 1 (daily), in groups (here & there)
and started open air preaching & tract distribution last August.

My wife, Kim, and I started attending a church last August (60 members) after moving back to Ottawa. The church theme for the year was “Evangelism”. But, as we found out, it was “about” evangelism and not methods on “how” to evangelize.

We noticed at the annual business meeting that for the last 2 years there was a budget for “local evangelism” and the box that indicated how much was spent on it was BLANK.

They’re were interesting reactions when people found out what Kim and I do and hear of our stories at Bible study. It certainly has tweeked some peoples’ interest.

2008: THE GOAL: With ideas in mind and prayer in heart, I purchased seasons 1 & 2 of the ‘Way of the Master’ TV series. I want to bring forth an offer to the church in early 2008 to TEACH interested congregants the essence of sharing the gospel in the most effective of ways using these educational, inspirational videos.

A year from today, God willing, it is my prayer that I will be able to submit a report indicative of the blessings received in this all important ministry…all for the glory of God in the continued building of His Kingdom via gospel sharing and the hopeful salvation of those who hear and repent.

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without SOMEONE PREACHING TO THEM ? And how can they preach if they are not sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'” (Romans 10:14-15)

Happy New Year to all. “Let’s roll!”

Howdy, I am so thankful to God that you made your committment. Because without it I would never have even entertained the thought of handing out a tract or witnessing to a stranger or my unsaved family members. Thank you Brother!!!

I have also set a goal to witness (Personal Work) to one person everyday and to hand out 10 tracts everyday. I will never know how God
will use my efforts for the building of his Kingdom. I just want to be a faithful seed sower.

For the month of December at the Hawthorne DMV we did 12 open-airs; passed out 500 tracts; and had 275 hearers/listeners..Praise the Lord.

Hey, this year I handed out 13,455 tracts; witnessed to 348 people; open-air’d 118 times; and had 2,977 listeners. (a close tabulated estimate, only God really knows.)

We have a new beginning in 2008, to reach out to the lost. Praise God for his amazing grace to us. I can’t wait to begin again.

My goal is humble; to live the Gospel in such a way that I am confronted with opportunities to share it. I don’t know exactly how that will work out.
