“I’ve got a headache.”
The response from a Costco employee as I left the store with my groceries after asking her, “How are you?” “Fine,” she replied. I repeated, “No, really, how are you?” That’s when she admitted that she was in some pain. I then asked her if I could pray with her right then and there. She said yes. “Do you believe in the Lord?” I asked. “Of course.” I laid a hand on her and prayed for her headache to go away.
This is a new strategy I’m employing when I meet strangers: asking them sincerely how they are doing and transitioning into saying something about the Lord to show I care.
