Police detained a man in eastern Belgium after a dinner guest found the bodies of the host’s wife and stepson in a freezer, authorities said Thursday. (Read the rest of the story from AP here!)
An Oakland man, Humberto Hernandez, was walking with his wife on the street when a 2007 Ford Escape blew a tire and swerved onto the sidewalk, striking a fire hydrant. The 200-pound hydrant was sent flying through the air and struck Hernandez in the back of the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A former police chief, Blair Christopher Hall, was in custody Friday on suspicion of murder after his wife, Cristi Lynne Hall, was found floating face down in their backyard hot tub in Calimesa. —L.A. Times, 6/9/07
35 people were injured, including two police officers, when a woman plowed her car through several blocks of a street festival in Washington, D.C.
