Atheist Tuesday: A View Askew

This well-produced video was emailed to me by an atheist (my assumption) named Kaufman and accompanied with this cryptic comment: “Food for thought, sir.”

I watched it and and found that it was a great mixture of partial truth and half-truth.

My question to atheists: Is this what atheists in general believe Christians believe?

Another question. For Christians:

Atheist Tuesday: Famous Lost Words, Pt. 2

Apart from being fabulously rich and famous, what else do these celebs have in common? You never know who you will meet when out sharing your faith….

BRAD PITT

“When I got untethered from the comfort of religion, it wasn’t a loss of faith for me, it was a discovery of self,” he says. “I had faith that I’m capable enough to handle any situation. There’s peace in understanding that I have only one life, here and now, and I’m responsible.” From Parade magazine, October 2, 2007.

ANGELINA JOLIE

In the September 6, 2000 edition of The Onion A.V. Club titled “Is There A God?”, celebrities were asked the question: Is there a God?

Angelina Jolie: Hmm… For some people. I hope so, for them. For the people who believe in it, I hope so. There doesn’t need to be a God for me. There’s something in people that’s spiritual, that’s godlike. I don’t feel like doing things just because people say things, but I also don’t really know if it’s better to just not believe in anything, either.”

GEORGE CLOONEY

“I don’t believe in Heaven and Hell. I don’t know if I believe in God. All I know is that as an individual, I won’t allow this life — the only thing I know to exist — to be wasted.” From the Washington Post September 28, 1997

BRUCE WILLIS

“Organized religions in general, in my opinion, are dying forms. They were all very important when we didn’t know why the sun moved, why weather changed, why hurricanes occurred, or volcanoes happened.

Atheist Tuesday: Famous Lost Words

Quick test: What do all these famous people, apart from being dead, have in common?

Madalyn Murray O’ Hair (1919-1995)

“I want three words: Woman, Atheist, Anarchist. That’s me. I feel that everyone has a right to be insane.”

O’ Hair was the Founder of American Atheists. (Source here.)

Katherine Hepburn (1907 – 2003)

In an interview in the October 1991 Ladies’ Home Journal that was advertised as her “most candid” ever, Hepburn said:

“I’m an atheist, and that’s it. I believe there’s nothing we can know except that we should be kind to each other and do what we can for each other.”

Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977)

“By simple common sense I don’t believe in God, in none.”

Voltaire (1694-1778)

(DISCLOSURE: It is reported by many sources that these words were from his lips. Others say he never said these things. You decide.)

“In twenty years Christianity will be no more. My single hand shall destroy the edifice it took twelve apostles to rear.”

His Physician said that Voltaire cried out most desperately [at the end of his life]:

Atheist Tuesday: My End of the World Prediction

Yes. Everyone’s laughing at the false teacher who predicted that the end of the world was last Saturday at 6pm; the heartiest laughs reserved for 6:01.

I laughed too.

Though Jesus clearly stated that “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father,” (Mat. 24:36), people have been predicting the end of the world since Christ left this earth 2,000 years ago. One web site has even documented over 200 erroneous end-of-the-world predictions!

Following in such a grand tradition, I will now make my own end of the world prediction. Unlike all those other false prophesies I can guarantee with absolute certainty that my date will be correct. Am I a heretic also? I think not. Here’s my prediction:
