Sudden Death: River

BRIDGEPORT, Ala. (AP) — Authorities in northeastern Alabama say a man dove into the Tennessee River after seeing his girlfriend’s car sinking and drowned in the fast-moving water. But authorities say he may not have realized the girlfriend had already escaped from the car and was helped to shore by a fisherman. Read the rest by clicking here.

What if you write a lie about an atheist, and then get kit by a bus?

      Are you ready, Steve?

      • carl

No Steve. What if you got Kit from Knight Rider? What a great evangelical tool that would be. Think of all the things you could program Kit to say.

Whateverman you have some good ideas.

      • Nohm

        *Ahem*

        The car’s name is KITT.

Death is the least of things, nothing in fact. Only a fool or a coward would fear it. I do not seek death for life is joyous and filled with wonder. I also long to live for the things left unfinished and for the love I have for those around me. In the end however when death comes, what of it? It means nought to me for I shall be dead and know nothing. I have no regrets to plague me in my last moments, even if death should take me this second I have lived well and fully, I have laughed and loved. I have known the love of women, the joy of fatherhood, the pleasures of friendship and the satisfaction of knowledge and accomplishment. I would be greedy to ask for more, yet death has not struck and I have more after all.

As the sage Epicurous said “The eternity before my existence was not fearsome, so why should I dread the eternity after I exist no more?”

I can surely see why the superstitious would dread death, the possibility of eternal torture or, just as bad. some tepid “paradise” without savor or challenge, is indeed fearsome. I however am nonesuch, I am a man not a child. I am learned and civilized not some primitive savage. I need not dread the trappings of barbaric myth.

Your obsession with death is nothing more than the result of your superstitious beliefs and failure to understand the true value of living.

    Jim:
It saddens me that you continue, day after day, week after week to blog your atheist approach and yet the truth of the Gospel message just doesn’t break through “ANYMORE!” I say anymore because you clamed you once were a Christian! Have you ever considered what the Bible says about your defection /apostasy? Please read these words from the book of Hebrews: ” For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Have you ever given any real thought to what Hell is like? Would you allow me to help you get a vivid picture of a place I hope you never see?

Hell is the prison–in which the prisoners of God’s justice are confined.

Hell is where punishment is inflicted on all who die at enmity with God.

Hell is the place where Satan acts the part of the chief tormentor.

Hell is the place where conscience, armed with terrible power, torments the guilty soul.

Hell is the place where reflection, aided by a strong and tenacious memory, afflicts without mercy or cessation.

Hell is the place where God frowns justly and eternally on the naked soul.

Hell is the place where everything calculated to . . .satiate with terror, fill with agony, and
    torture with pain, exist.

While everything calculated to inspire hope, give pleasure, or impart relief–is excluded forever.

After reading the above you might ask yourself, who will be there?

Satan and his demons–all those foul, wicked, and degraded spirits–who are filled with envy, malice, and enmity against God and man.

All unrepentant sinners–of all classes, creeds, places, and periods.

All who have . . .stained the world with their crimes, afflicted others with their cruelties, and degraded themselves by their vices.

All the lowest, vilest, and basest of the human race!

God is there too, in his glorious majesty, almighty power, impartial justice, and awesome holiness! O how it will aggravate the sufferings of the lost–to have God’s eye always fixed upon them, and the justice, holiness, and majesty of God ever shining before them! (Psalm 139:8)

(This is a point we often overlook; I have heard many people say that Hell will be Hell because God is not there, but I contend that Hell is Hell because God is there, and those in Hell will face His holiness and justice and wrath against sin, in their fullness, without the shield of Jesus Christ, for all eternity – that is what makes Hell Hell)

    What is in Hell?

Justice with its flaming sword–is there.

Memory stored with the whole history of one’s life–is there.

The worm that gnaws the vitals of the soul, but never dies–is there.

The fire that cannot be quenched, which tortures but never destroys our nature–is there.

But there is no Bible there.

There is no gospel with its joyful sound.

There is no gentle, loving Savior.

There is no loving friend or dear relation.

There is nothing to lessen or alleviate suffering!

Hell concentrates in itself, all the elements of misery, degradation, wretchedness and woe!

Jim, as Steve wrote in another post, “I let you post here so that the wise Christian can pray for you.” That was a kind and loving statement, just one to hopefully get you to sit up and take notice!
Please, please repent; how much more vivid can I be?

      • Pam Hawley

Jim I fear that you are on the road to perdition. Do you want to spend eternity with Satan, demons and the ungodly? Hell won’t be pleasant. Hell is not a party, it is a prison.

      • Nohm

        Hi Pam,

You wrote: “Do you want to spend eternity with Satan, demons and the ungodly?

No, none of us want that. The issue is that we don’t believe in the existence of Satan and demons; we think that is imaginary.

Hell won’t be pleasant. Hell is not a party, it is a prison.

We understand this. The issue is that we don’t believe in the existence of Hell.

Unless you have any evidence to support any of these claims.

      • Chris

I see you still haven’t faced those problems of yours Steve. Still running away from them.

      Hi Steve L.,

You wrote: “Have you ever considered what the Bible says about your defection /apostasy?

Steve L., more importantly, have you considered what the Holy Qur’an says about you ascribing partners (Isa) with Allah?

Aren’t you afraid of the Hellfire?

What you say? You don’t believe what the Qur’an says?

So, why do you expect Jim to act in a way that you yourself do not act? Why do you expect him to accept unsupported claims from your ancient holy book when you yourself do not accept unsupported claims for other ancient holy books?

      Do you see the problem?

Also, nonbelievers do not believe in Hell, so we’re not frightened by descriptions of it.

Ads try to manipulate people through use of their emotions. Politicians do the same thing. It’s an attempt to get people to stop thinking and just react.

I’m afraid you were guilty of this when you wrote “how much more vivid can I be?” In other words you want to scare Jim into heaven. Get him to turn off his brain and manipulate him through fear. Do you truly believe God would approve of such methods?

You also wrote “Jim, as Steve wrote in another post, “I let you post here so that the wise Christian can pray for you.” That was a kind and loving statement,…”

No it’s not a kind and loving statement at all. It’s a statement of a totally closed mind and nothing more.

Do you truly want to show love to others? Then here’s how to do it.
      1) Don’t condemn – leave that to God and their conscience.
      2) Don’t make insulting statements like Steve & others have done.
      3) As people what they think and feel, don’t tell them.
      4) Demonstrate how a Christian should behave by showing it.
      5) When you fail at this [you’re only human after all] just admit it and move on. Don’t attempt to justify your actions.
      6) If asked a question and you don’t know the answer just admit that you don’t know. You don’t have to know everything.

        Chris:
I can handle constructive criticism but unfortunately you haven’t given me any cause to repent!

      • Chris

        @ Steve L

So you you don’t care about the truth & you just want to go on manipulating people.
        Gotcha.

      • Rykunderground

Satan is a myth and a silly one, really this is pretty easy to get. You have nothing other than your own superstition to substantiate “hell” and “Satan” there is absolutely nothing to indicate they exist and much to indicate they do not. You of course are free to believe them…you are free to believe in the tooth fairy if it makes you happy. There is not however any reason whatsoever why anyone else should believe them, none.

Now lets pretend for a moment that I did believe however, that would not make me wish to worship your diety. I am not underestimating the sheer terror I would feel, unlike some I do not minimize the degree of eternal torture an omnipotent being could deliver. Did I believe I would live each day in terror of death knowing I would suffer such a fate. I would not however worship your God. Any omnipotent entity that would allow hell to exist is by definition my enemy, I would have to reject it. As a man I could not cow down to this being, despite my fear I would have to submit myself to torture rather than worship an evil God.

Jim, you are going to remember on the Day of Judgement that Steve was sent to you as a messenger of God to warn you to repent. God loves you that is why He sends people into your life to warn you and point you in the right direction.

Repent before you time is up and try and remember that Steve is acting like a friend towards you not an enemy.

Jim I think you have blog envy. A lot of your comments seem to be critical of how Steve runs his blog.

Steve should blog about what his interests are. Just like your blog should be about your interests.

I’m sure Steve could give you some pointers on how to make your blog more popular.

    Just a thought.
