180 Movie: Beverly Hills…Cop?

I got a text from Ray Comfort. He needed a team to hand out the 180 Movie at Beverly Hills High School. Would I do it? He planned on having other teams pass out this DVD at high schools in Hollywood and Burbank as well because the potential rich and famous go there. They might influence the current generation to be pro-life and pro-God.

Knowing how important this 33 minute film was in saving babies’ lives and adult souls, I said I would try but was warned by a former Beverly Hills cop that this city was not like other cities; they play by a different set of rules.

Tony Miano, Director of the Ambassadors’ Alliance, the “on the street” training arm of Comfort’s ministry, cautioned that in his reconnaissance of the area he was told by a Security guard at the school that the police would swoop down on us in a matter of minutes when they find out what we were doing.

Ray thought that we would only be able to get rid of only a few copies before we were busted.

So what ended up happening?

The usual. God intervened and not one problem arose.

One mom in a Mazerati grabbed  her copy, as did many parents who were there to pick up their kids.

Best of all, hundreds of teens took copies of this film that will, hopefully, change the heart of our nation from a culture of death to one of life.

What did we say to get these predominantly Jewish students to want a copy? “Take this DVD that is about the Holocaust and a very important women’s issue.”

Everyone was grateful.

Well, almost everyone.

You guys are truly awesome!!! Its great to know our judgement of certain cities are false. It reminds me of Caleb and the spies. You could have been like the other spies and turned away, but you didn’t. You decided to remain faithful and push forward like Caleb. Keep up the good work!!!

Aw, Steve. So much wrong in such a short entry.

    A couple of quick points:

    1. “Everyone was grateful.”
I suppose you could look at it that way. Everybody likes a gift. But you know something? When people are handing out free stuff, most people will take it. Particularly when the people in question are even the slightest bit pushy. It’s easier to take it and avoid the confrontation. Which, I think you’ll find, is the motivation for most people you were handing things to.

    2. What did we say to get these predominantly Jewish students to want a copy?
Really? Racial stereotyping simply to fit your Fox-News-watching, right-wing mindset? “It’s the Hollywood! They’re all Jews!

You know, statistical information is widely available, and not particularly difficult to find. If you check into it, you’ll note that Burbank has remarkably similar demographics to West Hollywood, and neither is particularly over-encumbered with persons of the Hebrew persuasion.

They are, in fact, slightly more religious (although perhaps not falling into your particular flavor of religion) than the rest of the country, with 58% vs 50% of the population claiming affiliation with a congregation.

Well, clicking through, you find that they object to gratuitous use of the term “Holocaust.” Weird, how they might object to somebody subverting their personal tragedy for political objectives, isn’t it?

You know, facts are a good thing, Steve. And what does God call people who take facts and twist them to fulfill their agenda?

    Just curious.

I don’t what God calls them, but they call themselves “Christians”.

Ah. A direct and unambiguous lie. Why am I not surprised?
