Your Best Lie Now: Preaching Outside Joel Osteen’s Church

Talk about a thankless task! One man got tired of the false, feel-good, man-centered “gospel” preached by Joel Osteen, so he did something about it: He stood outside ole Joel’s church and preached the Law and Gospel to the congregants. A waste of time? Foolishness? Some would think so… What say you?

Steve. This guy gives a great message. To bad he RUINED it and DESTROYED much credibility as well as doing nothing to further using the law preach the gospel. Why??? Because of those stupid horns painted on Osteen’s head. This is along the lines of Jesse Morrell preaching, not what we have labored so much to offer up to the Lord.

FOOLISHNESS!! And to back my opinion up:

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”…”God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.”
    (1Corinthians1:18 and 21)

Good on this foolish street preacher! I can’t help but see throngs of lemmings passing him by, as though he were not there, heading for the edge of an endless pit.

Wow! I didn’t see the horns, nor the goatee for that matter. I agree with Robert on the Morrellishness of the approach. Thats unfortunate.

If Osteen ever came to Ottawa I would be out there doing the same, just not with the imagery. Maybe a better thing would be to preach on the need for one’s heart to be convicted, your heart broken, before repentance can take place and have a sign that says: : “Your Best Strife Now”.

I heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ! For that, I rejoice. As to the people walking by they are sheep without the Shepherd. If they are not born agian (if they were they wouldn’t be there), they are dead – what do we expect them to do? So we must preach and trust in God to convert…AMEN.

Like 9:49-50 “Master,” said John, “we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.”

50″Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”

Your view is this way….. “Master, we saw a man witnessing not like us or the way your word shows, and we tried to stop him because he is not one of us”….. “Do not stop him” Jesus said “for whoever is not against you is for you.”

I think this guy did a great job. I am thankful that God gives such faith, boldness, and clarity to men in tough situations. (which with the attacks of Satan most any witnessing situation seems tough). I desire the same boldness and strength and utterance for myself.

As with most here I am in much support of this preachers efforts and message.

Also in love I’d like to say in reply to Chad that 2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

We absolutley must base all our actions upon what the Word shows, else how are we different from the false prophets and unsaved? The preacher in this clip gives full evidence that he also believes that we must follow what the Word shows, else he wouldn’t have gone to give the Word-given Gospel, in the Word-given method of open air preaching.

I appreciate your response though and taking the time to weigh in on the matter, even though I disagree with you, this allowed me to think it through, and may do the same for others.

Jason- I agree that we should base all our actions upon what the Word says. We must not jump on board with some scriptures and ignore others either. Galations 6 : 3 “If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5for each one should carry his own load.
10-“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of BELIEVERS.”
Is Joel not a believer? Joel may not be preaching the way the Word instructs us to, but does that condemn him to hell? Is he not saved? You guys are quick to reference scriptures like 1 John 4
    (Test the Spirits)
1″Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” But you guys forget to keep reading. 2″This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.”
Joel does acknowledge Jesus as God in the flesh. Does he not? I totally agree with The Way of the Master witnessing method 100%. I also think Joel is not preaching like the Word shows that he should. My problem is that we are commands to love one another especially our fellow brothers in Christ. The Word also says to go to that brother not to evereyone else and slander each other due to differences in beliefs. Jesus also prayed in John 17 that we would come to complete unity. How will we ever come to unity when we all slander each other publicly? We come to unity by unifying on the things we agree on and stop arguing about the things we don’t. Joel will have to answer to God for his choices. But so are we….
