HOLLYWOOD – Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, a recent father and husband, may have another new role. According to the British newspaper The Sun, Cruise has been christened the new ‘Christ’ of Scientology.
The newspaper said it was told by leaders of the religion that the actor has been told he has been “chosen” to spread the word of his faith throughout the world. In recent years, Cruise has openly discussed his religion, sometimes drawing criticism for his comments including a personal verbal attack on actress Brooke Shields. The Sun story reported that a source close to the actor confirmed the report, saying, “Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure. Like Christ, he’s been criticized for his views. But future generations will realize he was right.”
