After waiting about five hours in a deer blind (3 hours in the morning, 2 hours in the evening), I shot my first buck in Texas on November 24 at 5:45 p.m.

And after about 10 weeks, got the meat: 20 pounds of sausage, 20 pounds of burger and backstrap and tenderloins steaks.

I took some of the cooked sausage to a church potluck and…

Yum!

There’s something immensely satisfying about shooting your own food.
Now, I’m gonna go build a log cabin!
