A 54-year-old man was killed Thursday afternoon in what appeared to be a tree-cutting accident. The man had been cutting down the tree when it fell on top of him.

State police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was set to retire next week from the town’s public works department; he was working alone at the time of the accident. Read the rest here.
