On this day in 1964 this godly Rwandan reverend was taken to a bridge by force. As he walked, he sang this hymn:
There’s a land that is fairer than day,
And by faith we can see it afar:
For the Father waits over the way,
To prepare us a dwelling place there.
His hymn was cut short by a rifle shot.
The Hutu soldiers then picked up this Tutsi pastor and threw him into the river.
His diary reached his wife. She read these words written on the day he died: “We are going to Heaven.”
