I’ve been mulling over this, and it’s as related to the post as an atheist can get (obviously I don’t go to/have a church). So here goes:

How much of your week are you supposed to dedicate to increasing your numbers? Is there even a vague number? Or perhaps a suggestion such as “Dedicate 75% of your free time?”

I’m a bit worried, you see, that you’re quite literally wasting your lives wholly on this. While evangelism can be annoying, it’s genuinely sad if all your doing is working towards getting more people to work towards getting more people in some unending cycle of flawed tracts and circular logic.

For all the guff we get about considering life pointless, you guys render life about as pointless. Just so you might go to a place that isn’t even described all that well. When it is? Childish, with crowns and houses and other things we’re told to abhor while alive.

So Christians: what’s the point? Is it all about massaging a divine ego?

Funny Steve. Yet sad and very true. I am actually lol remembering an incident last year immediately after church service in a packed hallway, open air preaching to believers. We had just finished singing a song “We’ll proclaim Your name, we’ll proclaim Your name”. SINCE I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT MOST DON’T, I FELT INCENSED BY THE HYPOCRISY. SO, I LOUDLY PROCLAIMED, ” We just sang that we will proclaim God’s name, so make sure you share the Gospel. If you don’t you just came to church to lie to Him”! If looks could kill I’d be dead.

All your evangelism isn’t doing much good. According to a recent study, for every person who becomes a Christian, 4 deconvert. And the most embarrassing part is that non-believers aren’t even trying to go around changing everyone’s beliefs. o_O

oh poor sweet kaitlyn. you THINK for one second that the God of the Bible, whom you don’t believe in, cares or is concerned about any recent studies? we Christians aren’t concerned because we KNOW how our God works. No statistic can measure what God is doing in the hearts of men.

hey, i heard somewhere that in China, Christianity is exploding. pastors are communicating that the people are confessing Christ as their Lord and Savior in leaps and bounds.

poor poor kaitlyn, don’t waste your mind and your life. yes kaitlyn Christianity is based on FAITH. just simply lay down your guns and confess your sins, especially the one of pride and trust in Jesus Christ. hint: Everlasting life is a FREE gift…take it kaitlyn, you won’t regret it!

I’d give you a hug if i could.
    blessings,

Actually, they can measure it…she, you know, posted such information. Not looking too good for you, but I know you are of the religion of “Heads, I Win; Tails, you Lose” and would see that as a sign of the rapture or something equally silly.

China is seeing growth in just about all religions due to a steady relaxing of the state atheism since the 19070s. You are going to see numbers grow to what they are SUPPOSED to have always been when the government isn’t literally putting a gun to citizens’ heads and telling them what to believe in.

Kaitlyn isn’t wasting anything, at least not on this rubbish.

h— yeah kaitlyn!!!! hey dede…? cool name. did you hear that just about everywhere in the world there are people who believe in other faiths, and they out number us? by the billions?? i cant imagine that your “merciful” GOD would condemn billions of his children and pick you? now that just doesnt sound very godly to me? maybe you should come up with a better argument next time, because ive done my homework. and for a faith based religion seems like the faith is spread pretty thin.. and statistics arent faith based theyve been scientifically proven. when you come up with scientific evidence then we’ll talk. but for now im gonna stick with the way ive been living, and trust me im happier than youll ever be in this life or the next. mostly the next because you’ll be in hell for all of the judgement you’ve put on those around you who have just as much of aright to be on this earth as you do, maybe even more.

dont give me a hug id kick you in the face if i could.

    Hey, Johnny!

Re: “dont give me a hug id kick you in the face if i could.”

Your threat to kick Dede, a woman, in the face for any reason speaks volumes of the kind of man…excuse me, did I say “man”?…worm, you are.

You said you would kick her in the face “IF” you could.

You would have a problem, Mr Tough Guy:

Believe me when I tell you, and I am not trying to talk here with some kind of macho-egocentric motive. I mean this in a most true and humble way:

As a man, (the kind that God intended men to be) if I were there with you and Dede, you would have a rather difficult time trying to raise your boot against her face while lying on the ground wondering why I had turned you into a human pretzel.

You wouldn’t be able get near her, bub. I would make sure of it.

Johnny Hopkins, King of Cowardice needs to meet Jesus Christ, the King of Glory! And one way or another, you will meet Him one day, in this life or the next. Better this life, man. (Sorry, didn’t mean to call you that again.)

One way or another, you will bow the knee to Him and worship Him. Question is: will you do that forever in Heaven or will you be cast into the Lake of Fire?

As low a person as you have just proved yourself to be, I don’t want that for you. I am as much deserving of Hell as you are. But I am a sinner, saved by grace. Heavenbound by the saving substitutionary work of Christ, on the cross for my sins.

Repent, forsake your sin and plead with God to save you and He will. With all your sins forgiven, receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you will be granted eternal life in Heaven.

Once God has a hold of your heart, he will change you from the inside out, shedding your old nature (the one that leads you to threaten women with violence) and giving you a new one that would cause you to love others (even if you don’t agree with them) and to love and serve God, as well.

In the meantime, I suggest you get some counselling. Or are you not man enough for that either?

Like it or not, I’ll be praying for you, Johnny.

    Really Johnny?
I can tell your mommy didn’t teach you any manners.

If you were my son and I saw you writing that on a blog I would take away your internet privileges and give you a good spanking.

    Hi Johnny

First of all I am sorry about your parents dying at 8 years old – that is not something any kid should have to experience.

As far as you being 6′ 5″ and a solid 220lbs really won’t matter at the end of your life and as you well know 10 out of 10 will die.

Think of it this way (since you said in another post you are a quarterback) One day we will ALL stand before God – the Bible says it is appointed for us once to die and then the judgment.

You can either take a knee yourself and bow before Christ in submission by repenting and putting your faith and trust in Him. OR
You will take a knee by Him breaking your knee cap with His rod of iron.
Either way the Bible says that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.

I am sure you have gotten “sacked” before and never saw what hit you.
Well death will come the same way – so get right with the true and living God today – because you are not promised tomorrow.
I know it makes no sense to you now but I still pray that you will think on these things. Christ can take your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh but it won’t come with being angry, or prideful, etc. It comes by being broken over your sin and looking to your Savior for His forgiveness and grace. And you know what? He will do that even for you
Johnny. Now that’s love! That Christ would die for us even while we were yet sinners. We don’t deserve grace but He gives it anyways, and you make that choice to accept or reject.

I will continue to pray for you along with my brother Paul.
I know it is not an accident that you found this blog and I know you are angry with God and want nothing to do with Him. A real man can admit his fears, his anger, his confusion, and give those things to God. When you are broken over your sins – cry out to God – He will save you. It’s that easy. Nothing you can do to earn it, work for it, nada. He has done it all for you on that bloody cross.

Brother Dennis: my sentiments the same. Thank you.

Johnny: I will pray and do pray that God will “tackle” you in the same way he tackled me 10 years ago. I wanted NOTHING to do with God. But He wanted something to do with me…save me!

I pray God to change your heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh. Your sins forgiven, your anger gone, and that you would come to know what REAL LOVE truly is through Christ who died on the cross and who rose from the grave.

Come to Christ, friend. You DO need Him. There is no other way. May God bless you, MAN!

“For the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the Gospel of God?
And if the righteous SCARCELY be saved, where shal the ungodly and sinner appear? 1Peter 4:17,18.
Now Steve, I know that you are passionately involved in evangelism, and in stirring up those in your church. You teach, and disciple believers, and take them into the community witnessing. However, percentage wise, it is still a very small number who get involved, and maintain it. Yet, Hope Chapel seems more involved in evangelism than any of the other churches. Have you thought about the root problem, and the solution? I frequently consider these things even in the wee hours of the night. I have often hear you quote Charles Spurgeon, who said if you care not about the soul that is unsaved, you yourself are unsaved, be sure of that! Do you believe this to be a true statement?. If so, then most people in most churches are unsaved! What is the solution???

Do you think Amos 8:3 is something that has happened in the past, or something that will happen in the near future? “And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord God: there shall be many dead bodies in every place, they shall cast them forth with silence”. Then study very carefully Ezekiel 9. I believe God reveals His secrets, so we can be angry enough about evil to take bold action! What do you think?
