Evangelism this week: Long Beach ComicCon

Just in time for Halloween! We will be visiting this comic and horror convention on Saturday. Meet at Hope Chapel at noon to carpool.

Want to see something really scary? Visit DeathBeth, an incredibly grisly evangelism site.

Also,  click here to check out this very creepy “Cooty Catcher” for the small fry who need to know about Heaven and Hell.

This is great: Puzzles, games, riddles, jokes, mazes and a kid-friendly Gospel message—all on a one sheet that you can hand out with candy on Halloween Harvest night! Print off your very own Harvest Game sheet if goblins and ghosts aren’t your thing.

BOO!!!

I love it when atheists use their intellects to deride Christians and the Bible, but then proceed to tell you what they DO believe in!…..LOL

It’s the world’s most dogmatic cult, atheism, and they don’t even see the irony with their allegedly “superior” belief system!

I have never once claimed atheism is a “superior” belief system, and I’ve honestly yet ran into an example where this was claimed.

I, for one, never really use the term “believe” outside of a poetic or romantic context. When it comes to matters of science, mathematics, or rigorous high-order logic, I would use the term “accept” over “believe”.

      • Gosh, Black Swan, you don’t “believe’ in atheism, you just “accept” it then?

LOL….This tissue-thin semantic justification for moral relativism may fool the drug-drenched low tide drek that frequents leftist events like OWS, but when we drag you out into the sunlight and ask you what you BELIEVE in, you can’t even put together a cogent sentence!……..lol

You proved my point by doing exactly what I described, and the only mystery here is how so many people in our once-great nation have become so brain-dead as to accept this drivel!

Atheism is merely a position that is formed due to the acceptance of theism – the belief that there is at least one deity. Atheism, as a counter-point, is the lack of belief in any deities. So, no, it isn’t really a “belief” system to begin with. What exactly are we believing in again?

Of course, this discussion on semantics was more in the lines of science and mathematics, which is where my day-to-day work lies, so for not being specific I apologize. However, I find your immaturity very tedious to deal with. This is the first time posting to this particular blog, and yet you’ll treat me like you’ll treat other people you conveniently don’t like for reasons that are arbitrary at best.

With that, I would like to ask a simple question – how do you know that even a fair minority of people at Occupy Wall Street movements are “drug-drenched”? Where are your statistics to support this? Have you been to these events? For that matter, do you have any real idea what it is they are upset about? I do request an answer, as I think it’ll tell exactly how you like your reality filtered.

On a more abstract point, do you drink coffee or soda? You may or may not drink alcohol, but do you take medicine? All of these are drugs, by definition. So, I would be weary of using terms as “drug-drenched” so loosely – you’d probably fall into that category to some degree as well. Moreover, can you actually *tell* me what is wrong with marijuana, but why this is any different from alcohol? In other words, why is one illegal but one isn’t? Health reasons, or political backing?

Such as? What’s an example of this?

For the record, every atheist out there believes in different things. The only thing you can guarantee that we have in common is what we don’t believe in.

It’s the world’s most dogmatic cult, atheism, and they don’t even see the irony with their allegedly “superior” belief system!

    1. Atheism is not a belief system. It’s simply not believing in the claims that one or more gods exist. This includes the God claimed by Christians, as well as the ones claimed by Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and so on.

    2. Please explain the irony.

    3. Please explain in what ways atheism is a “dogmatic cult”

    Thanks!

If it’s not a BELIEF system, Nohm, how come you have to defend it?

And what DO you believe? That EVERYTHING comes from nothing!…..LOLOLOL!

Hey Noam, we have saying over at the Christian Biker’s Group about Harley Davidson Motorcycles…..”If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand.” This slogan applies to atheism even better than HDs.

If you can’t see the irony of your desperate denial and defense of believing that everything came from nothing……there’s really no point in trying to explain it to you, is there?

Putting it another way, why do you think they call it DOPE, my friend? 🙂

Ignoring that the whole “everything from nothing” is, again, a oversimplified response to a very complicated scientific finding, I believe you’re starting on the wrong foot. Because you hold the positive statement “There is a God, and it is the God of the Bible”, you need to provide evidence to support it. Whether or not we can (and scientists can, by the way) give evidence to your oversimplified mockery of “everything from nothing” is irrelevant. How about you state your scientific, logical evidence for your deity, and we can discuss it.

Actually, they call it dope for a variety of reasons. The scientific one is that a lot of drugs tend to affect the process of dopamine – a naturally-occurring drug in the brain. Dopamine is linked to the pleasure center of the brain. Some drugs, like marijuana, are not lethal because of how they affect the chemicals in the brain. Likewise, some drugs are very lethal because they throw the brain way out of stability. Clearly, the issue of legality over drugs is not one of science, but politics. It is called “dope” by those unaware of actual education on the issue to deter people. Does it work? Clearly not. Does smoking marijuana actually make you think less intelligently? For some yes. For some no. Blanket statements about drugs and drug users should really be avoided until you have…well, facts.

        I don’t defend it, Mr. Failed Mind-Reader.

I’ll ask again, both in regards to your earlier statement and to this one above:

Such as? What’s an example of this?

And this time I’ll add: Are you making stuff up?

        And what DO you believe?

I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess insiiiiiiiiide.

        That EVERYTHING comes from nothing!…..LOLOLOL!

Of course not; that’s silly and made up.

        Hey Noam,

        Ahem, it’s spelled N-o-h-m.

we have saying over at the Christian Biker’s Group about Harley Davidson Motorcycles…..”If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand.” This slogan applies to atheism even better than HDs.

        Please explain why.

Atheism is simple; do I accept claims of the existence of any gods? No. Therefore, I’m an atheist.

If you can’t see the irony of your desperate denial

Please, point it out, as I don’t see myself denying anything, desperate or otherwise.

I simply don’t accept certain claims.

and defense of believing that everything came from nothing……

Yet I’ve never made such a claim, nor will I. Your mind-reading powers have failed you greatly. Maybe you can’t actually read people’s minds, and are making a whole bunch of silly assumptions based on misinformation?

        Maybe?

        Yep.

there’s really no point in trying to explain it to you, is there?

Maybe I didn’t make my point clear: you are making misinformed and incorrect assumptions about what I think. It appears silly, because your assumptions are definitively wrong.

Putting it another way, why do you think they call it DOPE, my friend?

Given that you skip from one irrelevant and misinformed point to another with no connection between them, I’d ask you the same.

But, to help answer your question, I’ve included the following URL so you can do your research: http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&gcx=w&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=why+do+they+call+it+dope

        Happy to help! 🙂
