    Pastor Steve, that was a sweet presentation of the gospel. I love the way you left her with the understanding that there are no guarantees in life and that there is nothing more important than her eternal salvation.

      The New York Times is not a reliable source. Remember it declare Dewey to be President of the U.S. You’ll have to do better than the New York Times as a source of your knowledge.

      You’re too late in calling me out. The Lord has already done that, “…come out from among them.” And “…you are not of this world.” Sorry, I’m standing on the word of God for the calling on my life and trusting in his promises.

      What promises are you trusting on?

      Repent and believe the Gospel.

    Catholics don’t take the Bible literally (because you really can’t it contains errors and inconsistencies), they believe that that papal bull is inspired will or the mandate of God much like protestants believe that the Bible is the inspired word or the mandate of God. They both believe in the savior though which is all that matters when someone is identified as a Christian.

      I’m sure the Catholics would be delighted to know that someone who isn’t a Christian approves of their approach to the Bible and matters of faith.

        Its okay Glenn, you can still be a Christian too even though you don’t believe in Papal bull, my folks are still practicing Catholics though I’m not anymore, they don’t take the bible literally that’s just plain silly =)

      That’s interesting. As many times as I’ve read the New Testament and not once have I read anything about any Pope or even apostolic succession. Huh. It’s nice they’ll still count me as a Christian, though. I’m just glad the Catholics can’t get permission to burn people at the stake these days.

        Nohm, Hebrews 1 makes it clear that God’s revelation has been made complete in Christ. There are no longer any priests to mediate between God and man. What God set out to do, He has done. No vicar of Christ on earth, and no representative of mankind other than Christ is appointed. No more revelation is necessary, and none will be given. This is just one more reason that we have no excuse for wallowing in ignorance.

    I love Pastor’s interview with this student. I see that she is open-minded, honest and it does seem to me that she will give some thought to the claims of Christianity. I think folks who refuse to have open minds and open hearts are stubborn and narrow minded. And are being deceived by the evil one. I can say this because I was once this way.

    Well, I see that Mr. Diver and company have failed in indicate what promises they’re standing upon. This is no surprise to me, since they have none. The world of the atheist is built upon sinking sand. They deny the God of scripture, while living under his grace. Therefore, I’m not compelled to give my source.

    I’ve have often heard Pastor Steve witness to such folks and he well ask “…if I were to give you reasonable answers to all your objections would you repent and believe the gospel…” And they say “no”.

    God made a truth claim. He said “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the father but by me.” Jesus said, “In me there is life…he who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son does not have life”. And, “I have come so that you might have life to the full”. When you become a Christian, God saves your reasoning too. “It is a fool who says he his heart there is no God.”

    Jesus died on the Roman cross and three days later rose from the dead. The tomb was empty.

    Repent and believe the gospel.

      I actually responded to you on this, but since then that comment, along with the comments dealing with the “10,000 new Christians per day, 300 less atheists” issue, have been removed. I have no idea why.

      My answer, again: I stand on the promises of people who have a background with me of coming through on their promises. But even then, I’ve learned to temper my expectations with all people.

      “This is no surprise to me, since they have none.”

      Please don’t think you can speak for me, as I can do that fine on my own. As you see, my answer is not “none”.

      So you say. I disagree.

      And if a Muslim said that to you, you wouldn’t be convinced. Therefore, I’m not clear why I should be.

      You’re… kidding, right? That’s the direction you’re going in? Look, you can just admit that you made it up; I’m not going to be upset.

      I just don’t understand why you thought you’d get away with it.

    Steve, you don’t need to post this:

    It’s discouraging to see the most recent deletions. It was a silly unsupported assertion, but a trustworthy person would own up to the mistake rather then send it down the memory hole.

    You may be telling yourself that the posts were deleted because they were off-topic – but that isn’t how it looks. A simple, “I was wrong about that,” would have ended the matter. This way, it looks like you two only give lip-service to truth.

    I sincerely hope you and Richard enjoy your break.

      I deleted it because it was an unsupported assertion. I shouldn’t have allowed it. Until Richard posts his link suffice it to say that he was wrong about that.

      Next time I see him I will rebuke him sharply.
