Evangelism Adventure: Fiesta Hermosa

The Fiesta Hermosa is one of our largest evangelism events of the year. Over 100,000 people visit this pagan street fair on Memorial Day where we set up our evangelism booth right on the Hermosa Beach Pier, just outside the fair. Why do we set up outside the fair? Read below. Also below get the details of the event.

In the video watch how our silly little I. Q. Test causes an atheist to actually backslide a little; he actually becomes concerned that he is headed for Hell. (We give all those destined for the lake of fire a stuffed animal—because we’re nice!)

We set up outside the official fair zone because when they give us an official space, it’s usually off the beaten path, behind other vendors where people can’t see us. One time, they even put us next to the toilets.

Martyrs: Shouwang Church

Members of the Shouwang congregation in China were arrested on May 15 as they gathered to pray in the commercial area of Zhongguancun in Beijing.

Shouwang Church is the largest unregistered church in Beijing, and its leaders have been in an ongoing battle with authorities since being forced out of their worship space and prevented from renting or buying a new building.

On April 10, police detained 169 members attempting to hold services in a public park.

Atheist Tuesday: My End of the World Prediction

Yes. Everyone’s laughing at the false teacher who predicted that the end of the world was last Saturday at 6pm; the heartiest laughs reserved for 6:01.

I laughed too.

Though Jesus clearly stated that “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father,” (Mat. 24:36), people have been predicting the end of the world since Christ left this earth 2,000 years ago. One web site has even documented over 200 erroneous end-of-the-world predictions!

Following in such a grand tradition, I will now make my own end of the world prediction. Unlike all those other false prophesies I can guarantee with absolute certainty that my date will be correct. Am I a heretic also? I think not. Here’s my prediction:

Inside Kingdom Hall

My friend and fellow Hope Chapel evangelist Tony Yu has a special burden for the Jehovah’s Witnesses who are lost in this works-oriented cult. As a result, he makes a special effort to witness outside their meeting places called Kingdom Halls by preaching, sharing one-to-one and using special Gospel tracts. Here’s a report of what went down at  Easter when he actually attended a JW “church” service.

Jehovah’s Witnesses passed out fliers all over my neighborhood inviting people to attend [“Easter”] service today at their Kingdom Hall.  Steve Pivovaroff, Carlos Ramos and I went inside the service thinking that it was primarily intended to attract new members.  We thought we would be presented with their beliefs and given a chance to ask questions.  We wanted to use the question phase to ask some questions and share the True Gospel.  To our surprise, it was a full-on service to commemorate Jesus’ death.  Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus so they do not call it Easter or Resurrection Day.
