This one hits close to home. This man is a dear friend, beloved member of our congregation and… my chiropractor. We almost lost him.
As Brian Carrico lay nearly freezing to death in a three-foot snowdrift on Mount San Jacinto, he said, he called on his faith to help him survive.
Two weeks after his rescue near the summit above the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, Carrico, 57, a chiropractor who runs a practice in Riverside and Orange County, has a new respect for the fragility of life and the elements of nature.
Rescue teams from across Southern California spent three days canvassing the San Jacinto Mountains wilderness searching for Carrico after his family reported him missing from a cross-country skiing day trip.
We tried something new at our local St. Patrick’s Day parade—and it was highly effective: Hand out tracts and preach to the people who will be marching in the parade before it starts! At most small town parades people don’t arrive until about 15 minutes beforehand. So, you may as well do something constructive with your evangelism team while you wait…
…like preach to the beer ad marchers. That’s what “Mad Mike” Stockwell did (at my urging).
As you can see they were held in rapt attention, barely able to stand upright before dropping to their knees in repentance.
You can also climb aboard the ubiquitous double-decker bus that is in every parade—and hand out tracts to the riders (like “Mad Mike” Stockwell did—on his own initiative.
You can also do more creative things, like these…
The best way to describe this event is that there are 3-5,000 adults convening who were never disciplined by their parents as children. Or: If God took the restraining power of His Holy Spirit from the earth, it would look something like this gathering.
These people are against everything we as Christians are for, and are for everything we are against, for the most part. They are so far left President Obama is considered a conservative. (Read the whole 10 part series from the 2009 protest here.)
We are going to have a blast as an evangelism team, because—Hoo-Boy!—these people need the Lord.

Atheist Tuesday: The Unbeliever’s Soapbox
I thought, as a change of pace, that I would let an atheist have a shot. Here, without further ado, is an atheist’s answer for morality without God, by a man whose Web name is Vagon. (I won’t have time to write my own exceptions to this very selfish perspective, but I do encourage you readers to offer your own.)
Despite several attempts to provide the theists with some objective ways to approach morality, they continued to assert that atheists had none, so I asked Steve if he’d be willing to have me guest post on objective morality without religion and he accepted, providing the post was interesting and provocative enough. I can guarantee neither, but this is that post and it will mean that Steve and his commenters can have no excuse for their continued assertions that atheism has no objective morals.
