The Chinese New Year Parade had its share of dignitaries. My daughters caught the vision of handing out Gospel tracts to politicians as they drove by. If you need to be reminded of the purpose of this foolhardy endeavor, click here and here.

L.A.’s own embattled Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, was overjoyed to receive his tracts from my eldest daughter D.D.

This is probably the third or fourth time he’s gotten one from us. Hopefully, he’ll read the back of the bill and answer those questions about the Commandments…. No further comment about that is necessary.

Because there is really only one big question he has to answer:

We have resumed our outreach to El Camino College where we meet the strangest people.

The young man below is taking an art class. And what he is holding up is, well, his idea of art; it’s a house where apparently, a mass murderer lives. A cemetery is in the front, a mound of human bones in the back.

What’s shocking is that this man calls himself a born again believer.

Now, can a Christian make morbidly shocking art? I suppose so, but I would ask: Does it glorify God? I’ll tell you more and show you his other art (Warning! Graphically gross!) by clicking to read the rest.

Politicians Grab the Money…and March!

Because the Little Saigon Tet Parade is in Orange County, a major conservative stronghold, many politicians tried to score points with the minority community. Our evangelism team was more interested in scoring points with the politicians—by handing them Gospel tracts. Our hope was that they’d read them, believe and repent, and make some decent policy changes that would affect our nearly bankrupt (spiritually, morally, fiscally) nation and state. You might say that this was a stimulus package that could actually work! (Read part 1 here.)

Loretta Sanchez, Congresswoman for California’s 47th district was overjoyed to receive her tract.

Let’s hope this Blue Dog Democrat spends this hundred dollar bill a little more wisely….

Ed Royce, one of the rare Republicans on the Left Coast, from the 40th Congressional district, took the money… and ran! Any campaign contribution is welcome in these tough economic times, especially if you’re part of the GOP in SoCal.

A reporter from the OC Weekly asked me what I thought about the coalition of Vietnamese gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender groups that marched for the very first time in the Vietnamese New Year (Tet) Parade. My answer may have surprised her: “They have a right to march in this parade like any other group;
