Who were the first New Testament evangelists?  (From Sunday’s question)

All women!

Then as today, men were too afraid to go out and share the good news. Here are the names of these wonderful women: Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, Salome, Joanna, and the others with them… (From Mat. 28:1; Mk. 16:1; Lk. 24:10; Jn. 20:1)

    I have to say that I can relate more to the men and fear even having given out the million dollar bills every day since our class on Thursday.

    I still hesitate. But I’ve been faithful so far in handing out the one a day. The only day I handed out about 20 was on Resurrection Sunday. I was taking my walk at the foot of Hawthorne, not really expecting to see many people that day. I passed three people without doing anything but on my return loop I prayed for courage and went for it. I only had one person refuse outright and one of the people I had handed one to tried to get the guy to take it too by saying “don’t you want a million dollars?”; I had one person tell me her sister a few yards in front of us could really use one – that was after she read the back; and I handed out 10 to a group getting in a van. I actually ran out of bills before people. But the next day, I hesitated again.

    The hesitation thing. It’s natural. It happens. The liar is whispering in your ear saying: “Jesus didn’t really tell you share the gospel with others, did he? Don’t you know how foolish people will think you are?”

    Been there.

    Don’t listen! The more tracts you hand out, the more frequently you do it, you will find yourself in want of doing it more and more and more. So much so that the next battle you will be fighting is the feeling of not being out there sowing seeds and/or watering enough. But it does get much easier.

    Let this be an encouragement to you: “The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labour. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.” (1 Cor3:8-9)

    And good on you for the work you have already done! Press on, sister!
