Funny, but I never think of my destiny – eternal or otherwise – when I hear stories like this. I think about what the boy’s family and friends are going through and my heart goes out to them. What a horrible and senseless thing to happen.
And I can’t really express how incredibly callous it is to take their pain and their loss and make it all about ‘me and my afterlife’. I mean – these are real people with real feelings. They’re not some bit part players in my life’s story. Does that make any sense?

  Makes total sense. I’m sorry that you see it as callousness. I see it as a grim reminder that at any time our precious lives may be lost. My heart, too, goes out to this family.

    Why does your heart go out to them Steve? You and they see the kid again in heaven, the sympathy and sense of loss you claim to feel is doesn’t really make any sense if you believe what you believe, to feel any actual grief and sympathy for the loss of this boy is merely to placate people, you should feel elated and congratulate the boy’s parents if you ever encountered them in real life.
    Maybe throw a party, laugh, celebrate, joke, applaud, why bother shedding tears? This life is short and eternity is so long why grieve and sympathize with the loss of a person in this life at all if you believe what you believe? After all if they’re merely just going away for awhile as you propose, why cry at all, I don’t cry when my parents go on vacations since I know I’ll see them again or talk to them again later.
    If one of your children were to die tomorrow, you should be overjoyed, happy, because they’re going to heaven early, perhaps you could even throw them a Going Home party with your family and friends, it might be fun. I wouldn’t think you’d shed a single tear or really be sad, because that wouldn’t really make much sense.

It is extremely sad that christians who claim to be oh so moral, use things like this event to propagate their religion unto others.
