Sudden Death: Monkee

Davy Jones was in his stables surrounded by his beloved horses at his Florida home when he suffered a fatal heart attack on Wednesday, his rep revealed Friday.

“Jones died after spending a happy family weekend with his wife, Jessica Pacheco, and her family riding horses,” Helen Kensick said. “There was no sign of illness or of anything being wrong.” Read the rest.

In the September 6, 2000 edition of The Onion A.V. Club titled “Is There A God?”, celebrities were asked the question. Mickie Dolenz, a producer and former drummer for the Monkees, was among those asked.

The Onion: Is there a God?

Micky Dolenz: No. God is a verb, not a noun.

(What do you expect from a producer evolved from a Monkee?)

      • I’ve put my faith and trust in Jesus and have repented of my sins. The Holy Spirit was given to me as a deposit ensuring my final destiny.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

      • Your final destiny has been ensured? Really? Isn’t it possible for you to sin and have that salvation revoked until you ask for forgiveness again?

What if you lied about an atheist on this blog a half-minute before collapsing from a fatal heart attack?

      • Really?

I have never sinned, because that would mean that God is watching me. I do not accept God, therefore he is not watching me, therefore I have never sinned.

Whateverman’s got a point Steve, what if you did something unthinkable like lie to your congregation about some topic like science… and someone or some group of people corrects you but you refuse to spread that to the people you’ve deceived… I mean that would be terrible wouldn’t it?

I remember watching the Monkees with my brother in the summer mornings growing up. My parents still have their albums on LP. Sad day indeed.
