Our College Evangelism: Access Denied!!!

UPDATE: WE’VE BEEN REINSTATED. Click here to read about it.

Our on-campus ministry at El Camino College in Torrance has been temporarily put on hold because our application for permission to be on campus was denied.

Denied.

Why would we be denied access after five years of fruitful and gracious campus evangelism?

I called the Office of Student Development and talked to the Director’s assistant, William. He didn’t know for sure  but thought it was because they “received complaints. I had to think about that one.”

Hmmmm… Perhaps this Catholic girl complained after I interviewed her.

We really truly try to be gracious when sharing our views with the students and very rarely get into heated arguments. Why argue if one has the truth?

Ahhh, that’s probably why they received complaints.

In the multi-cultural environment in which we live nobody likes to hear that there is only one God who has only way to reach Him. No one wants to be seen as a sinner. And there are very few who would welcome the news that because they have transgressed God’s Moral Law, the Ten Commandments, by lying, stealing, blaspheming—or worse—that they would end up in a place of eternal torment—forever.

“We’ve received complaints…”

Perhaps this atheist complained?

It’s a laughable notion in the halls of higher education to be told that God became a man in the person of Jesus Christ and that he suffered and died on a cross for all their sins. It’s even more ridiculous to assert that after three days he rose again. I can barely get my mind around this truth:

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. “

I also let El Camino’s Office of Student Development know that we could resolve this the easy way or the hard way. After all, my hard-earned tax dollars paid for a portion of that school. After all, there is still free speech allowed on public campuses. After all, they allowed those loud, unruly Occupy protesters to shout up and down the campus.

All we want is the freedom to remind people of their eternal destiny, good or bad.

And we can do that in a whisper.

Perhaps these Occupiers complained?
