Hope Chapel, Hill Country? (“Moving On,” Pt. 3)

I just got back from a week-long trip with my wife to spy out the land of Dripping Springs, Texas, where I believe I am called to plant my church in the near future. (Click here to start at part 1.)

Dripping Springs is twenty-five miles from Austin, has a population of 1,800 and… fourteen banks! It’s called the Hill Country and 40,000 people live in them thar hills. One pastor said that if all the churches in the area were filled, they would still have 36,000 people without a church. My goal will be to start out with a hundred.

What type of people live there? Moral Therapeutic Deists. In other words, good people.

That’s the main reason I believe that God wants Hope Chapel Hill Country (HC2) in an area that already has about twenty churches: because no one is good enough to get to Heaven—and I’m not afraid to say so.

The conversation that motivated me to go can be found in part 4 by clicking here.
