Happy Anniversary, My Beloved!

| 16 Comments

To My Lovely Karen,

You are, and will always be, my Proverbs 31 woman.

Thank you for fourteen wonderful years!

Let not my love be called idolatry,
Nor my beloved as an idol show,
Since all alike my songs and praises be
To one, of one, still such, and ever so.
Kind is my love to-day, to-morrow kind,
Still constant in a wondrous excellence;
Therefore my verse to constancy confined,
One thing expressing, leaves out difference.

Fair, kind, and true, is all my argument,
Fair, kind, and true, varying to other words;
And in this change is my invention spent,
Three themes in one, which wondrous scope affords.
Fair, kind, and true, have often lived alone,
Which three till now, never kept seat in one.

—Shakespeare’s 105 Sonnet

And a big congratulations to Mrs. Miano who is celebrating her silver anniversary with “The Lawman,” and Mrs. “Righteous Richard” Chavarria who should be expecting a gift made of alabaster!

  1. Congratulations to you and brother Richard!! You guys are truly men of God that not only talk the talk but walk the walk of a true Christian! Your lives are an example for us single guys to live by as well! God bless you brother!

  2. Happy Anniversary and God bless you both…ESPECIALLY Karen! 🙂

  3. I have seen the true blessing of God at your house brother pastor. The pattern of how things should be, of love and fellowship in family, has marked my mind forever.

    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!

  4. Happy Anniversary Steve and Karen

  5. Congratulations. Is your fair wife also your 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 woman?

  6. In every way, she is perfect for me because “a woman who fears the lord is to be praised.”

  7. So neither you nor your fair wife have issue with the inherent misogyny?

  8. No inherent misogyny at all. We do have different roles in our marital relationship though, and there are different roles for men and women in the church as well.

    Here’s great resource that will save you a lot of time in regard to understanding my view of Christian men/women and their roles: http://www.amazon.com/Recovering-Biblical-Manhood-Womanhood-ebook/dp/B00265VGGO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&m=AG56TWVU5XWC2&s=books&qid=1278567164&sr=1-3

  9. Congratulations, Steve.

  10. Happy Belated Anniversary you lovebirds…and many more back at ya!

  11. Yeah, rebecca, the misogyny isn’t going to be clear to him…

  12. Looks like the old adage is true Azou, ‘there is none so blind as he who will not see’.

  13. Rebecca: For even more fun, watch both Muslim men *and* women defend the misogyny in the Qur’an.

    Granted, I agree that “Biblical manhood and womanhood” is like soooo 2000 years ago.

  14. Yes Nohm, they are all clear displays that religion was created as a means of power and control. Just like marriage was created to protect land, wealth and power – which included women.
