Graduating Class of Summer 2011

Out of the 32 people who started “Sharing Your Faith…Made Easy!” only thirteen made it to the end. Was I disappointed? Of course.

Would I have liked to have all 32 make it through? Of course. Am I saddened that most may not use the God-given tool that is almost guaranteed to unlock the heart of even the most hardened sinner? Of course.

But I believe in the principle of margin: a few here, a few there. In other words, thirteen more people have learned the biblical way to evangelize. Am I happy about that? Of course.

Our next class will be held from October 13—December 22!

The top of the class, Karen M., (3rd from left) was a rather shy, unassuming person who had the light bulb go on over her head when she heard the foundation of the course, “Hell’s Best Kept Secret” taught over the 2 1/2 months. She assured me that she didn’t even want to take the class, but said that she couldn’t say no when I personally invited her. She told me that she would now like to go out with the team regularly.

Godfrey, the third place finisher (top right, blue shirt), had a few words of encouragement to offer this class. I hope many will take this to heart:

To all my Classmates,

Thanks for sticking it out and finishing the class. I know it’s sometimes difficult to make it to class all the time, but I’m confidant that God will honor our commitment to doing His will. In truth the journey is just starting for us, so let’s not forget the things we learned and keep on spreading the GOOD NEWS!! I certainly hope all of us will be found doing what Jesus told us to do when he returns!!!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-3)

I loved the class. I never thought I would open air preach, but I did this once during the class. It was fun. I feel liberated that I can say aloud these things of Jesus that are on my heart. I also had about 15 conversations as detailed on the Million Dollar bill. Not as hard as I thought. You taught me to memorize the Ten Commandments. That was fun and has great value. For my goal of handing out at least one tract per day I reach that about 6 out of 7 days every week. Thank you for showing me how to live more fully for God in giving me the knowlege of how to share my faith. I look forward to spending time with you at evangelism outings to come.

You mentioned a “God-given tool that is almost guaranteed to unlock the heart of even the most hardened sinner?”

I’m happy to volunteer as that “sinner” if you’re happy to acknowledge you’re lying for Jesus here when that tool fails despite your “guarentee”.

    Hi Pastor Steve,
I ran across this post and thought you as well as others might enjoy it.

THE SOUTHERN TEN COMMANDMENTS This is much easier to remember !!! (1)Just one God. (2)Put nothin’ before God. (3)Watch yer mouth. (4)Git yourself to Sunday meetin’. (5)Honor yer Ma & Pa. (6)No killin’. (7)No foolin’ around with another feller’s gal (or ‘nother gal’s feller). (8)Don’t take what ain’t yorn. (9)No tellin’ tales or gossipin’. (10)Don’t be hankerin’ for yer buddy’s stuff. Now that’s plain an’ simple. An’ bless your little cotton pickin’ heart

For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

    Hey Everyone,
Had a wonderful day yesterday at the park talking to people about Jesus and the need for His salvation and handing out trillion dollar bills. What was the most special was hearing my oldest son telling the other children that they need Jesus and telling then Jesus is the original superman!!

Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.
