26,000 copies of On the Origin of Species were given out at universities in Australia and New Zealand on March 9th, without a hitch. This was to pre-empt meetings by Richard Dawkins (the world’s pre-eminent atheist) that were to be held in five major cities. Watch a clip from national TV in New Zealand by clicking here.

Here are the preliminary reports from the down under give away:

AUSTRALIA: “AWESOME!!!!! People were gathering around to get their copy. One of the groups at Melbourne Uni. got through about 2,500 books in just over 1 hour. . . What a great day it was. One guy tried to grab a whole box and make off with it, he wasn’t very successful.”

NEW ZEALAND : “It took from 11am until almost 2pm to hand out their 4000! They had a little resistance–some crazy atheists who were yelling “Jesus hates evolution” behind them–until some of the students who were getting books and engaging in conversations with the team yelled back at the atheists to shut up, as they couldn’t hear what our guys were saying. The atheists then went away. What a wonderful day we have all had speaking up for the LORD!!!”

Then Ray Comfort made a jacket for Richard Dawkins! A real jacket! Will the pope of atheism take it? Watch the video below:

…and the rest of the class got to eat popcorn and watch a preview of the first episode of Season 4, where Ray and his team preached in London.

It’s the best episode yet: fast-paced, exciting, humorous—there’s even a cameo with a certain evangelistic blogger!

It was a great privilege to enjoy all this from the hallowed inner sanctum of the Way of the Master Conference Room where such great ideas as The Darwin Book Give-away are hatched.

I also got another interview with Ray concerning his latest hair-brained idea that is sure to frustrate even more atheists, especially Richard Dawkins. Tune in tomorrow to see it.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Chris Henry was no stranger to trouble.

Indeed, his multiple arrests during a five-year NFL career were among the factors prompting the league to toughen its personal conduct policy.

But to hear his teammates tell it — even the team’s owner — the Cincinnati Bengals receiver was determined to leave behind his troubled past and move ahead toward a bright future.

Tragically, his efforts were cut short when he died from injuries in what police said was a domestic dispute with his fiancee.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the 26-year-old Henry died early Thursday, less than 18 hours after he fell off of the back of a pickup truck on a curvy residential street about eight miles northwest of downtown Charlotte. Read the rest from NBCsports by clicking here: “Bengals’ Henry dies day after fall from truck.”

Hi Steve–

I find your videos with people standing on busy intersections really strange.

To me at least, if I were a pedestrian waiting at a busy intersection for a light to change while somebody was barking a sermon into my ear with a MEGAPHONE, I can pretty much guarantee that as I walked away with ears ringing, I wouldn’t be thinking “Gee! I need to get right with God, so I can spend eternity with THAT guy!”

I’m an atheist. People like you generate people like me.

“Righteous” Richard Chavarria celebrated three years of preaching at the DMV last week. (He started on February 28, 2007.) During that time he has spoken to 11,051 hearers and has handed out 14, 947 Gospel tracts. You can print off and memorize his message by typing “Open Air Preaching Speech” in the search bar. Now, watch him in action:

You never know what God has in store for you. After Richard retired from the City of L.A. he decided he was going to serve the Lord—by working in the parking ministry of Hope Chapel. He wondered if that was all God had for him, after all, he had been a Christian now for 18 years.

Well Lo! and Behold! he ended up taking the very first evangelism class that I taught in 2006.

As homework, I give each student a pack of Gospel tracts which they are to hand out, one each day, every day of the class.

Richard didn’t.

In fact, he hid his tracts in the glove compartment of his car. Not only that, he sat in a different seat every week of the class so I wouldn’t call on him. Talk about bold!

At the end of the course he had handed out absolutely no tracts and had no conversations with anybody about their eternal destination. Nada.

Then one day I asked him to be on the “J” team; that is, the Jesus Team, our brand spanking new evangelism group. (I don’t know why I asked him.) To my surprise, he agreed to join us on our evangelistic outings and—the rest is history. A year later he started preaching every week at the DMV.

Not only does Richard preach twice every week at the Hawthorne DMV, he has also led teams at the Way of the Master’s Ambassadors’ Academy.

Who knows what God will do with you when you say “Yes” to sharing your faith?

Wanna join us? Meet at Hope Chapel at 1PM to carpool.

Last year, Peter Johnson preached to the teeming throngs at the ripe old age of 16-years-old.

I preached also and gave a lame stand-up routine at the same time. See it here.

Next week: St. Patrick’s Day Parade

I’ve been teaching our evangelism training, “Sharing Your Faith Without Fear,” for nearly five years now and have never seen a level of commitment like I have with this latest class, the first of 2010.

The first big deal: Only two students dropped out. The 50% rule was overruled!

The second big deal: There were three first place winners! Pierre Cordero was #1, Eva Ho #2, and 12-year-old Cherish DelRosario was #3.

How can there be three first place winners?

Well, whoever gets the most points in the class usually wins. But this time there was an added incentive: a hand carved 10 Commandments plaque. This was available to whoever got the most points ever, which means that someone had to break the previous record of a man named Richard Hidalgo (pictured at right) who held this record for a whopping 2 1/2 years.

Besides doing class work, which earns points, students get bonus points by writing a three sentence paragraph for each tract they hand out. These points are unlimited.

Which brings me to the third big deal: In a normal class, the average comments written under the post “What’s Your E-vangie Tale?” numbers between 200-300. This latest class posted over 1,100 E-vangie Tales. Another record!

The fourth big deal: Richard’s 2 1/2 year record of 233 points was smashed by Cherish with 360 points, Eva with 485, and the all-time high-scorer: Pierre, 611 points.

Which brings us to the three winners. All got first place prizes which include Ray Comfort CDs, books, sample packs of tracts and more. But only Pierre got the top prize of the 10 Commandments plaque.

The big question: Will they continue to share their faith
now that there are no rewards—except in Heaven?

The next session of “Sharing Your Faith Without Fear” starts March 18!

Here’s another remedy for those who say that they can’t get out of the house to witness everyday: Send a funny email!

Ugly Pictures of Jesus gives you the top 10 ugliest portraits of all time of our Savior, with Scripture, and a Gospel message to boot.

Whether someone is a lapsed Catholic, back-slidden Protestant, New Age dolphin worshipper, or a too-smart Evolutionist, this image display is near-guaranteed to get even an atheist to smile (though he’ll say that he’s laughing at you).

Simply type something like this: Hey! I thought you’d like to see the top 10 ugliest pictures of Jesus ever. Then send it! If you wanna really get creative, add one of those ridiculous “threat” post scripts; something like: If you really love the Lord, you’ll forward this to 100 others.

Now you will never have another excuse to NOT share your faith, especially when SPAMgelism is right at your fingertips.

Click to go UglyPicturesofJesus.com right now! (And don’t forget to post your totals for February in the comments section below.)

*****

This is the opportunity for you to make an evangelistic commitment and report on it twelve times a year. (I post each report at the beginning of each month and send you an email reminder.) You can sign up by clicking here.
