Erm Steve, nobody was expelled. The guy hanging the ‘In God we Trust’ sign won the day.

The school board acted like the over-sensitize knee-jerk reactionaries that school boards tend to be and they were rightly corrected.

    Where’s the story?

Well Matt, in Steve’s defense, the board is currently appealing the ruling.

I’m of two minds on this, especially since I grew up close to Poway.

On one hand, I think the school board is going a bit too far.

On the other hand, I think the teacher went a bit too far with his posters, as you can see in the video. I also think that trying to view the poster at the same level as a Gandhi poster is a little silly, as if Gandhi was known only for his Hinduism.

In short, I’ll let the courts handle it.

But, Matt, I agree that nobody was EXPELLED! So, in that way, it’s exactly like the movie… you know, the one where the head writer had to admit that only one person featured in the movie even “came close” to being expelled.

I guess that movie was all hyperbole, then… which makes it ok, right Steve? As long as it’s hyperbole, it seems that it’s ok to make stuff up on this blog.

Possibly the word “expelled” was used in reference to the posters which may, once again, be “expelled” from the classroom. (Webster’s definition: 1) forced out (2) dismissed by authority seems to apply here.)

Or, maybe it’s just a play on words, since this was a teacher and schools do, from time to time, expel students.
