Memorial Day Tracts for Your Church

Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

We made 5,000 of these special tracts for our Memorial Weekend evangelistic endeavor; perhaps you will want to print a few thousand yourself and stamp your church’s name in it. Click here to download and print them.

THE FRONT

THE BACK

This is what they say:

ON THIS MEMORIAL DAY, you may know someone who has died in the service of our country. Many lives have been lost to secure the freedoms we currently enjoy as Americans. This holiday weekend, as you have barbeques with friends and family, as you relax and rest on this long weekend, please remember the price someone paid for you to live free. And, remember also that life is short. (more…)

Candidates vs. Christ: Who’s Elected?

Tuesday, May 21st, 2013

The Los Angeles Mayoral race is on!

Two candidates, Wendy Greuel and Eric Garcetti, are vying for the top slot in America’s 2nd largest city. Who will win? More importantly, how do they currently stand before Christ?  The bigger question is not whether the people elect them, but has God?

When I gave each a Giant Money Gospel tract and a firm admonition at the last Golden Dragon Parade a few months back, here were their reactions as revealed in these two 17 second videos:

ERIC GARCETTI: ELECT?

WENDY GREUEL: ELECT?

So…are they the elect? If they profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and repent of their sins, yes!

If not, no.

Simple as that.

No recount needed.

St. Patrick, Emulated. Kind of.

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Taking our cue from St. Patrick, six of us hit our local Hermosa Beach parade! But unlike the great Evangelist, we handed out about 3-5,000 Gospel tracts (there were no tracts back then).

Unlike the Saint, though, we gave the Gospel to the Budweiser Brigade. (There was no Bud back then.)

Unlike Patricius, we walked alongside Bagpipers and proclaimed the Cross. (Yes, there were bagpipes back then, just not sure there were any in Ireland. Definitely no cross with “Are you Ready?” on it. And abortion wasn’t an issue, so there was no 180Movie. No Ray Comfort either.)

Unlike the Irish Bishop, we gave the Mayor of Manhattan Beach a Giant Hundred Dollar Bill with the Gospel on it. (There was no Giant Money, nor Mayors of Manhattan Beach…nor Manhattan Beach, for that matter.)

But just like Maewyn Succat, we, too, know not the results of our efforts that day; only God knows.

I’m just glad nobody got kilt.

Canadian Faithfulness

Saturday, March 16th, 2013

I just read this on Facebook from my frozen friend in Canada, Paul Latour, of The Word Street Journal:

Heading out to hand out tracts with a few others at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade here in Ottawa. Please pray for us as the present temperature with the windchill is -19 Celsius or -2.2F. In other words, it’s really cold outside. But I think of those who will die under torture today in some other countries due to their undeniable faith in the same Christ we will proclaim today on the streets. Suddenly, the temperature doesn’t really matter.

I responded with this comment:

Paul, my brother, our evangelism team will pray for you today. It’s 7:30 AM in California. Please pray for us, too, as we go to our Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It may Reach 70° today, but with the windchill factor it may only be about 65°. Brrrrrrrrr. I’m wearing a long sleeve shirt with my shorts.

Perhaps this is why Charles Spurgeon called evangelism an “irksome task.”

Inauguration Day 2013

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013

EDIT: See Ray Comfort’s response below.

This is what I did on Inauguration Day using (the now defunct) Presidential Trillion Dollar Bill Gospel tracts.

And on this day, 40 years after the legalization of Roe Vs. Wade, which has led to the slaughter of over 50 million babies, the other message on the bill, besides the Gospel message, is very important.

Read the fine print.

(I asked Ray Comfort if he was going to print up more of these for sale. His reply: “You are the only one that likes them : ). They get angry responses.”

So, folks, no more Presidential Trillions with Barack Obama.

Happy Holidays and Feliz Navidad Gospel Tracts

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

Download your own Happy Holidays tracts in English and Spanish below the video, but watch the video first to see how easy it is to hand them out!

Just in time for the Season: The New and Improved Happy Holidays Tract! It’s seemingly innocuous and politically correct—until you read what’s on the inside.

We just printed over 10,000 of them at my church, Hope Chapel. We put them in the foyer in packs of ten for the whole congregation to pass out. (Click here for an older version of this tract.)

***WE ALSO HAVE A “FELIZ NAVIDAD!” TRACT FOR OUR SPANISH SPEAKING FRIENDS. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE TRACTS!***

Download them for free then take them to a print shop and print them on green paper with red ink. There is blank space on the inside for you to stamp your own church name. Download it by clicking here. To see what else the tract says… (more…)

Lead Pearl Harbor Bomber Converts After Reading Tract

Friday, December 7th, 2012

This is the incredible story of Mitsuo Fuchida, lead pilot of the December 7, 1941, raid on Pearl Harbor. Fuchida was the one who shouted the war cry, “Tora, Tora, Tora!”

Mitsuo Fuchida fought the United States throughout WWII and was intimately involved in the planning and leadership of the Japanese war effort as flight commander and later as a senior operations officer.

After the war, Fuchida was a defeated warrior in occupied Japan, farming to meet the needs of his family. He was also the only one to return to Japan after the bombing.

In 1950, Fuchida miraculously came to know Jesus Christ as Savior through a tract handed to him while exiting a train in Tokyo. The tract was entitled, “I Was a Prisoner of Japan,” written by Jacob DeShazer (read it here)who was one of the famous Doolittle Raiders. DeShazer trusted Christ as his Savior while held captive by Japan for 40 months. DeShazer went to Japan in 1948 as a missionary and preached to the nation who held him captive.

Fuchida faithfully served Jesus Christ as an evangelist until his death in 1976. “From Pearl Harbor to Golgotha” is Fuchida’s testimony of salvation. Here it is in his own words:

I must admit I was more excited than usual as I awoke that morning at 3:00 a.m., Hawaii time, four days past my thirty-ninth birthday. Our six aircraft carriers were positioned 230 miles north of Oahu Island. As general commander of the air squadron, I made last-minute checks on the intelligence information reports in the operations room before going to warm up my single-engine, three-seater “97-type” plane used for level bombing and torpedo flying.

The sunrise in the east was magnificent above the white clouds as I led 360 planes towards Hawaii at an altitude of 3,000 meters. I knew my objective: to surprise and cripple the American naval force in the Pacific. But I fretted about being thwarted should some of the U.S. battleships not be there. I gave no thought of the possibility of this attack breaking open a mortal confrontation with the United States. I was only concerned about making a military success.  (more…)

The Disturbing Tract

Sunday, September 16th, 2012

I got an angry email from a person who received our “Will your good outweigh your bad?” tract—and understood it. She didn’t like the message at all. Here’s her email:

This “QUICK 8 QUESTION TEST” tract that I found is so disturbing. It’s so manipulative to try to gather people into your fold by FEAR.

This fear-based tract is disgusting, and I truly believe that this is the sort of thing that DRIVES PEOPLE AWAY from Christianity.

Christianity used to bring to mind things like loving-kindness – now many millions of people immediately think of harsh judgement.

So just keep telling people what pieces of s— they are, and if they don’t do and say the things just the way you say they should, they will all be damned to eternal damnation.

Yeah, that really makes people want to turn to God with willing hearts.

Do you have children? Do you want them to come to you and listen to your guidance because they love you and truly want to be like you, or do you want them to come to you because if they don’t they’ll receive a severe beating?

These tracts are medieval, fear-based tactics. Shame on you.

The Pro-Life Evangelistic Imperative

Friday, July 20th, 2012

After seeing this photo from Ground Zero I was reminded why we need to keep the pro-life issue in the forefront of our evangelistic endeavors.

I handed each of our evangelism team leaders a handful of these 180 Movie tracts and exhorted them to start up a conversation using these questions:

1. Who are these two men?

2. What countries do they represent?

3. What year did the U.S. enter the war?

4. It’s 1943. A German officer has a gun pointed at you. He wants you to get into a bulldozer and drive it forward. In front of the bulldozer is a pit in which there are 300 Jews who have just been shot. Some of them are still alive. He wants you to bury them alive! If you don’t do what he says, he is going to kill you and do it himself. Would you drive it forward? Of course not; you value human life.

5. How then do you feel about abortion? Perhaps you don’t think it’s a human being in the womb. Hitler said the Jews weren’t human–so that he could justify killing them. And besides, you don’t know when life begins, right?

After talking a bit with them about life and death, it’s a very easy transition to asking them this: If you died today, would you go to Heaven or Hell?

With every evangelistic endeavor, we have an opportunity to save lives…and souls!

Here’s an example of how this can be done. (Please ignore my erroneous Beethoven “fact”.)

2 Big Surprises at the Gay Pride Parade!

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

Interesting men take Gospel tracts at events like these. Watch for the surprise! (And stay tuned for two important reports from the Pride Parade 2012 coming up: One concerns an interview with a very friendly gay man, his evasive answers, and my comments about this community; the other, a rebuke to the hate preachers who were delivering their unloving messages at this event.)

Lost Liberties: Police Threaten Man Handing Tracts

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

Police threatened to arrest a Christian man for peacefully sharing his faith on public streets and sidewalks during an Italian festival last year. Now, the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) is striking back in federal court.

ADF attorneys on Thursday filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Buffalo over the incident. Police ordered the man to leave the festival, which was free and open to the public, if he intended to continue handing out Christian literature.

As one officer told the man, “If you hand out one more tract, you’re going to jail.”

“People of faith shouldn’t be threatened with arrest for peacefully expressing their beliefs,” says ADF attorney Nate Kellum. “The Constitution and court precedent in these types of cases is clear: officials cannot toss someone out of a public event simply because they don’t like the views he’s expressing. This is a classic example of free speech that the First Amendment protects.” Read the rest here.

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

Armed with special green St. Patrick’s Day tracts we will be hitting the Hermosa Beach Parade with a vengeance. Meet at a special time: 9:30amat Hope Chapel; then we will walk on down together—and that’s no blarney!

Hope Chapel is located at 2420 Pacific Coast Hwy, Hermosa Beach Ca. 90254. You may call me at 310-374-4673 x.121

To help you with your own St. Patrick’s Day excursions, here’s a special tract for you to download and hand out in your local pubs.

Two years ago “Righteous” Richard Chavarria experienced a huge disappointment that happens to all evangelism leaders eventually. Click here to see the tragedy.

BEAT THIS!

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Here’s the challenge: Beat this modest record of mine—55 Gospel tracts handed out in a row—video tape it, and send me the link. The top three who break my record, (remember, the tracts have to be handed out consecutively) will get 500 free Gospel tracts an “As you go” wristband and a post to this blog. And a quarter.

Parade-Goer Preaches!

Friday, February 10th, 2012

This man was unwittingly doing the Lord’s work—and my work—when he read out loud the Law and Gospel written on the back of our million dollar bill Gospel tracts. Have you ever had this happen to you? I’ve heard these read out loud in grocery lines and in queues at amusement parks. Everyone around the unbeliever gets an opportunity to hear the Good News. (And the bad, of course.)

Click here to read about what happened when a Million Dollar Bill Gospel tract blew onto a woman’s foot in a mall parking lot. This is unbelievable!

Reaching the “Black, Gay, and Here to Stay” Group

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Some groups are more difficult to reach than others with the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. If I were to stand in the midst of this “Black and gay and here to stay” crowd and preach the good news of how they can be saved from Hell by trusting in Christ and repenting of their sins, I’d probably be shouted down. Most Christians do not show God’s love to this community very often so they don’t trust us.

But, if I can get gospel tracts into the hands of these people for whom Christ died for, and they read the message and believe, they may repent and turn from death to life.

Of course, we used this tract (which everyone loved—until they read it):

Look how easy it is to “invade a parade” with this one minute video!

Traffic Tracting

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

Here’s an idea when you see bumper to bumper traffic. When the cars aren’t moving at all and the drivers are waiting, waiting… why not take advantage of the gridlock by giving the Gospel?

A Splendid Christmas

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

SplendidChristmas.com is a great site to present to those close to you because it provides a very subtle Christmas witness.

Send a family member to it and they will find Christmas carols with free Christmas song sheets, the story of the First Christmas, Christmas cookie recipes, crafts and Christmas music. Then there is a link for a gospel presentation, but it’s not called a Gospel presentation….

Click here, take a look, and send the link to the one you love.

This is another wonderfully creative web effort from my friend Anna (Banana) Jackson, who with her husband Dale, run a great evangelistic web store called Evangelism Stuff!

OCCUPY!!! Wealth re-distribution at El Camino College

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Normally, our Thursday afternoon excursions to El Camino College are fairly placid affairs. But today, I was surprised to hear a chanting, hollering mob protesting on the campus. What’s an evangelist—with a whole lot of Gospel tracts—to do?

I don’t know what you would do, but this is what I did with my Presidential Trillion Dollar Bills.

And this is what my friend Dr. Donnie did with his Giant Money!

Handing out tracts: Scary, yet effective

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

I’ve been handing out tracts regularly for over six years so I can sometimes forget how terrifying this exercise can be to those who are newly introduced to this highly effective method of sharing the Gospel.

In every evangelism class I teach, the homework is to hand out one tract a day for the duration of the class. I have them do this so that they may possibly develop this habit for life after graduation.

Ricardo is a new student in our class who describes himself as being rather shy. He attended the Long Beach Veterans Parade with the evangelism team over the weekend. This was his first parade and his first evangelism outing. Watch what happened as he handed out his Giant Money tract to a parade-goer:

We started him out with a “beginner’s stack” of 250 Giant Money tracts. We also filled a fanny pack with our Teddy Trillion tracts. By the end of the parade he was almost completely out of his Gospel literature.

How do you feel about Gospel tracts? Do you think they are effective? Are you personally afraid to hand them out?

A spokesman for the American Tract Society said that 53% of all who come to Christ worldwide come through the use of printed Gospel literature.

Did you know that George Whitefield, the great preacher of the Great Awakening, was saved by a Gospel tract? After reading it he wrote, “God showed me I must be born-again or be damned.”

The great missionary to China, Hudson Taylor, was also saved by reading a tract.

God even used a Gospel tract as the tool that led Greg Koukl, founder of Stand to Reason, to Christ. He has stated that “some brave soul” put it in the bottom of his grocery bag while checking out.

So why should you use Gospel tracts? Because God uses them.

“When preaching and private talk are not available, you need to have a tract read… Get good striking tracts or none at all. But a touching Gospel tract may be the seed of eternal life. Therefore, do not go out without your tracts.” — Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892)
