Babies Are Murdered There! (Planned Parenthood’s 100 Year Anniversary)

Today marks the 100th Anniversary of Planned Parenthood. Time to re-post an experience from April 14, 2013 when I had when I protested at a local abortion clinic weekly in California. I may restart this activity again at Austin’s Planned Parenthood facility. Who’s interested?

Most Thursdays I head down to our local abortion mill, Family Planning Associates, and stand outside for about an hour hoping to engage women in conversations about my pro-life position as they enter. Only a handful go through the doors when I am there so there is a lot of down time. Those I do talk with are mostly there to purchase birth-control. Nevertheless, since the vast majority of these ladies are black or Hispanic, I try to get their attention by informing them that the founder of this clinic was a blatant racist and that he hated people of color. “Your dollars spent here go to the killing of your own race. Did you know that?”

Most did not know that and most don’t care.

The last time I went I tried something different: I carried a sign.

Over a year ago many evangelists and pro-life activists distributed the 180Movie DVD, the powerful 33 minute documentary that compared the Jewish Holocaust to our modern day scourge of abortion, to thousands of people around the country. Since that time a new vision has been birthed in the hearts of many, a vision that has set at it’s goal the complete elimination of abortion in this country, a movement that seeks to criminalize this act of murder.

So a sign was born. A sign designed to call a spade a spade; a sign that would shed light onto this grievous issue and call it what it is: murder.

In every abortion clinic in America, babies are murdered, hacked to pieces, human beings made in the image of God. They are killed at the rate of 1.21 million persons a year.

murdered here

How did my sign work out? I stood along busy Long Beach Blvd. and waited for the angry outbursts of wrath and one finger salutes.

There were none.

In the first 10 minutes of my sign-holding one young woman professed Christ on the sidewalk.

I got four thumbs up from passing cars.

And a police officer said, “I shouldn’t say this while on duty, but I appreciate what you are doing.”

As I reflected on my sign holding I knew what I did was right. I had to do something. As a Christian, I’m called to expose the darkness.

Inside this seemingly innocuous medical building horrible things take place, things that most people on the street have no idea about.

Is it “in your face”?

Yes.

Does it expose darkness?

Yes.

Is it loving?

Saving human lives IS loving. Saving women from living with the guilt and shame of killing their child IS loving. Sharing how to be forgiven of this crime (as well as all our other sins) IS loving.

Doing SOMETHING IS LOVING. Indifference is the opposite of love. Turning a blind eye is NOT loving. How many people in Germany turned a blind eye to the heinous crimes that were being committed to the Jews? How many people believed the lie told to them by the Nazis that the “work camps” were great places and that no harm was coming to the prisoners?

Truth is often ugly, but it is still the truth. Evil must be exposed in order to be stopped. Perhaps the employees of this clinic will turn from their wicked ways because the truth that “Babies are Murdered Here” will not allow their consciences to rest. Don’t give up!

Abortion is only a side effect of our over sexualized culture in which the whole point of life is to have sex early and often, and with as many people as possible. If you really want to end abortion, standing with a sign in front of one abortion clinic is not the way to do it. You’ve got to reverse this cultural trend of over sexualization.

Is it the best possible use of your time to reduce abortion or once again a way of putting on a show for other Christians ‘hey everyone, look a me!’

As I’ve mentioned previously you like to do showy acts that are ultimately low responsibility for you.

How about inspiring yourself to something?

Or are we back to ‘I haven’t adopted a child because God hasn’t called me to adopt a child” thing?

I bought signs from these guys. http://www.abortionno.org/abortion-photos/ I have found in my own experience that there should be people with different jobs. Some people have the job of holding signs like these ones. Others that are going to talk to the women that are going to kill their babies have no signs then it is easier to talk to the women. I have held signs and it was much harder to talk to the women going in. I have not held signs and been able to talk to many of the women. I think both are great. I also bring chalk and write on the ground “When is it ok to murder a baby in a mothers womb? Never” It is good because the chalk writing stays there for days when I am not there. I write in on the ground on ever corner where the women might walk. Near and far.

Steve…the cry to cease abortion is alive and working in the hearts of the followers of Christ. There are many teams around the nation from North Carolina through California that are raising the standard and pleading with the women and men to not fall prey to murdering their baby.

Jennifer…a great idea! I’ll be out shopping for some chalk right away. TY!

If I believed someone was being murdered, I would try to stop it. Not hold up a sign.

I can’t speak for Rufus but for myself it is an easy answer. If I were witness to an attempted murder I would rush in physically and do anything in my power to prevent the murder even if doing so cost me my life or freedom.

I think many people would. Those who don’t are selfish, cowardly or indifferent. I am none of these so could not stand by while someone was murdered.

That, I think, is the point. Anti abortion activists use murder as rhetoric or hyperbole but don’t actually behave as if it were murder. If you actually believe a murder is being committed and your response is simply to hold up a sign and stand around while someone is murdered then you are selfish, cowardly or indifferent. If you are not those things then you must not truly consider abortion murder.
At least I hope if you were witness to a child or adult being threatened with murder you would do more than hold up a sign saying “a murder is happening here.”

Steve has no grounds to state these babies are being murdered, that’s why his response is so lukewarm.

BathTub has no grounds for speaking, never mind doing anything of value.
