Atheist Tuesday: The Atheist Prayer

There’s only one rule we have after setting up our new Prayer Stand: Pray for the atheists. Each and every time we set it up we will pray for the atheists to get understanding, to get wisdom, to repent of their sins and trust in the Savior. Every time.

We recorded our “Atheist Prayer” last week at a local college for YouTube so all the adamant unbelievers will know we are interceding for them because we love them. Here’s one review:

“Lol , thanks for wasting your time, I would rather you be at work contributing to society and, no, what you are doing in* is this video is not contributing to society , if anything it is causing aggravation and making society worse , but hey starting arguments and causing aggravation is stereo-typically what theists do , right.” —LogicalStatements1 1 day ago

The Prayer Stand is a visual reminder that there are Christians on campus who care. It’s also a reminder that God is present, ready to convict of and save from sin.

Maybe that’s why one atheist screamed out the most disgusting, blasphemous thing I’ve ever heard. Maybe that’s why another—quite comically—shouted, “I’m going to pray in the name of Jesus that you leave this campus!”

I gotta say that in general atheists seem to be far more argumentative. I suppose it comes with questioning majority held beliefs.
On a side note, I like how your prayer stand is a reminder to you of your religion, what is the biology department a reminder of?

  More likely, it comes from denying the inner light that God has given to every person. The conscience is a powerful thing; it drives people to drink and often to suicide, and ignoring this internal bellwether leads to destruction. They are quite literally living on borrowed time and the worst part is that they know it.

As always, how do you know they were Atheists?
The thing is if Atheists did really show up we all know that the only thing you guys could do would be throw tracts at us and run away.

Sorry, but you might want to pray for me to lose my wisdom and understanding because those are two reasons why I am not one of your followers. Also, you might want to add to the prayer that I will fear death again. Since I guess fear is one of those weapons you guys use.
It seems that you are confusing our indifference with anger. I for one have stated many times that I do not hate, anyone or anything. Also for me to “hate” God would mean that I think he exists. You are also confusing the “anger” towards you with anger towards God. You don’t have the monopoly on God, remember?
How do you know the people that were yelling at you were “atheists”? Maybe they were Christians?
My last comment. Maybe the last one on this site forever, since I don’t want to help you fulfill your prophecies. But I guess your bible probably has something in it talking about the ones that turn a deaf ear or something.
Okay, the comment: I love how your tactics have evolved. Your church should be called 180. You are twisting words used to argue against your belief and trying to use them to strengthen your belief. The Peewee Herman argument I am going to call it. Also, the passive aggressive nature is great. You guys are not dumb, I grant you that, smart maybe too, but definitely not wise. Wise is not a word I would use to describe you guys.
I am sorry that I am wasting my time on here, thinking that I could “save” my brother.

Now to the atheists: Dear friends, why continue to heap judgment on yourselves? Why do you continue to come to a pastor’s blog and suppress the truth in unrighteousness? Have you no other more noble purpose? If, in your view, these men are not helping society, will you not help society? Will you not much rather give food and clothing to the needy?
Perhaps then you will see your own need. We pray for you; we love you, but oh, we fear for you, because we have been saved from the same road of destruction you are on now.
If you do not believe this, do not waste your time with antagonism. If it were not true, why would you be so concerned as to continue to be nasty to this man? If you want to laugh, watch your own stand-up-comics or jugglers or what-not. Do not debase yourselves to mockery.

  We don’t believe in said judgement. In the same way you are not afraid of not becoming an operating thetan.

  Ironically it is the pastor who suppresses the truth.

  Encouraging my fellow humans to live a more rational and productive life is quite noble.

  Well I am helping society, by rallying against irrationality.

  I donate to those organisations which align with my philosophies. I offer assistance in a similar manner.

  I see no need. Imagine how much of a better human you would be if you stopped wasting 1/7th of your life? Better still you could encourage others to stop this waste and create a virtuous cycle.

  To be fair I have mocked many in my time and for where it isn’t deserved I sincerely apologise. Sometimes however the ridiculous is best exposed in ridicule.

    Well its miles above Ray’s blog so I probably will be here for a while longer. The only time I don’t like it is when we get censored or misrepresented (only happened in one thread to me personally).
    Anyway I hope you continue to interact in the comments and be a bit more honest with yourself and what you are doing with your life. Cheers

  I’ve already explained why I watch this blog, though I’m not an atheist I tend to throw in with them as I’ve set aside Catholicism in order to read up and study religion, right now I’m studying the split between Judaism and Christianity and the early Christian church, its pretty fascinating stuff really. I feel the need to chime in to try and raise interesting points in order that they might provoke some kind of thought…. oh and also attempt to correct Steve when he’s wrong about things, because spreading ignorance is not conducive to the growth of a healthy 21st century society.

  Well, Alice, I’m willing to bet that what you meant was “Do not debase yourselves with mockery,” but it hardly matters if you correct it. It doesn’t make sense either way, to be honest.
  You see, the truth is, most often the proper phrasing of that sentiment is “Stop mocking me!” I’ve noticed that a lot of “good Christians” (probably yourself included) are more than happy to mock the “sinful atheists,” when you aren’t making mealy-mouthed pronouncements about how sad you are that all these unchurched types are going to go to hell (of course, your infinite sadness would be much more believable if you didn’t say it so often and with such obvious relish).
  In fact, there’s the perfect example of something we’ve been trying to explain to you, Steve. Lets see if you can figure out what I’m doing in this next paragraph.
  All Christians love the idea of atheists suffering forever in eternal torment. They’re angry with the atheists for disagreeing with them about the existance of God, and it gives them a secret thrill to know that, while they are living forever in Heaven exalting God, the atheists will be down below with the sinners and the followers of false gods, weeping in agony.

  Jim why do you criticize one person for their method then turn around and use the same method, twice in a row?
  Saying the bible falls 100% of the time at its testable claims without showing any of them is exactly what you are criticizing Alice for.
  And once again according to your own critique your statement falls short again, your saying the bible isn’t true doesn’t make it not true.

I pray for Atheists all the time. I had one come up to me and try to distract me from doing what God wanted me to do. He then came back later and as I was reading scripture, He then started talking as loud as he could to drown me out. I walked away but he kept following me. He then gave up and I resumed my position. This was during the UT vs. Georgia Bulldogs football game last Saturday.
I am glad you guys are doing the Lord’s work on a college campus. If I did not work during the weekday, I would be out there at University of Tennessee campus.
By the way, I passed out ALL the tracts you sent me from a few weeks ago. I pray for those tracts and that maybe one person may visit your churches website and come to faith in Jesus.
