This happened several years ago yet still brings a smile to my face….

The easiest place in the world to share your faith is at the end of Route 66 on the Santa Monica Pier. Find out for yourself by joining us to carpool on Saturday at noon at Hope Chapel Hermosa Beach. We performed the TRACT GAUNTLET here a few years back. Perhaps we will again.
“Righteous” Richard Chavarria celebrated five years of preaching at the DMV last month—and I forgot to mention it! (He started on February 28, 2007.) During that time he has preached 511 times, spoken to 23,546 hearers and has handed out 29,817 Gospel tracts. (You can print off and memorize his message by clicking here: “Open Air Preaching Speech” )
Now, watch him in action from a video taken two years ago:
You never know what God has in store for you. After Richard retired from the City of L.A. he decided he was going to serve the Lord—by working in the parking ministry of Hope Chapel, Hermosa Beach. He wondered if that was all God had for him; after all, he had been a Christian for over 18 years.
Well, Lo! and Behold! He ended up taking the very first evangelism class that I taught in 2006. (more…)
(NewsCore) – A New York City woman who climbed into a clothing drop box suffocated and died inside after the box’s metal door closed on her head and trapped her Saturday, police said. Read the rest here.
I just got this in my email:
Some of you may already be aware of an enormous atheist rally scheduled for Saturday March 24 in Washington DC called the Reason Rally. There will be thousands of God haters there, so many brothers and sisters in Christ will be heading out there to proclaim the Gospel to the lost. I am asking that you lift these individuals up in prayer.
Pray for protection from spiritual darkness, pray for wisdom and pray many seeds will be planted as lots of Biblical resources will be distributed while others open air preach and share the Law and the Gospel. Please forward this to your prayer groups too.
Now a word from my friend Ray Comfort:
Apparently, atheists around the country are still putting up billboards that mock Christians. You have to feel sorry for them—by their own choice they have neither rhyme nor reason to exist. They have nothing to get out of bed for, so they pick on Christians. Another incentive is that we are a threat to their freedoms. They want to be free to fornicate, promote porn, etc., so they will fight us tooth and nail. (more…)
This is an interview with a student at El Camino College who was so concerned about his eternal destination he wolfed down blueberries. During the interview an Occupy protest marched on by, a school administrator looked on disapprovingly with her police escort (she later threatened to withhold our campus permit because of a complaint that we were too forceful), and an atheist shook a bottle at me. Enjoy!
The highlight of our year as an evangelism team is crashing the A.N.S.W.E.R L.A. anti-war protest that was supposed to be held this Saturday. But no…. It’s been canceled!
Soooo… we are going to go to the re-scheduled St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Hermosa Beach. Mweet at Hope Chapel at 10am to walk down together!

An atheist named LOGICAL asked: “I have a question for you. Why do you see evangelism as such a good thing? It seems to me that you would want people to find religion (particularly yours) on their own, so that there would be no question about their faith. Because to me, and this is only from my observation and could be interpreted as opinion, it seems like you and many other evangelical preachers are trying to scare people towards Christianity with threats of eternal damnation and torture through hell.”
My answer: I see evangelism as a good thing because God sees it as a good thing. Christians are commanded to “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)
In the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul writes: “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Chapter 10)
So, not only is evangelism a good thing, but those who do it have beautiful feet! (And I’m telling you, I’ve got some nasty looking toes.)
It’s also a good thing to warn those who are ignorant about an afterlife because it isn’t Heaven for everyone, and it’s never just “in the ground” at death. (more…)
Oh noooo! It happens on occasion. Our scheduled outing to the Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade was rained out. (Fortunately, they rescheduled it for next Saturday.)
Nevertheless, here’s a report from 2008 when the weather was a wee bit better. (And read the reasons why we consider parades to be a vital part of our evangelistic effort.) Click here to read about it.
My oldest daughter, 12-year-old D.D., was greeted first thing in the morning with a photo-flash and a hundred fins a few days ago. Why? Because she finished another yearly read-through of her Bible.
Her Bible of choice is The New Living Translation version of the One Year Bible. It’s a great way to read systematically. There is a daily reading from the Old Testament, the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs.
I started reading to her when she was one day old in the incubator. I Read Matthew chapter 1 to start—the genealogies! She fell right asleep.
Is it bribery or blessing?
I call it an incentive so that she will have a full understanding of what God requires of her; so she will fall in love with Jesus more and more each day; so she will know how a holy and righteous God condescended to save her through faith in His Son. And there’s a whole lot more reasons. Click here to read them from the post of when my 10-year-old earned her $100!
Every second Wednesday of the month is 180 Movie Wednesday. I will try to have an interesting pro-life post or video on these days in the future. We handed out the hottest movie on the internet (nearly 3 million hits!) while at World Famous Pink’s Hot Dogs a couple of weeks ago. What was the response? (Read what happened when my daughters and I visited a murder chamber several months ago here.)
Armed with special green St. Patrick’s Day tracts we will be hitting the Hermosa Beach Parade with a vengeance. Meet at a special time: 9:30amat Hope Chapel; then we will walk on down together—and that’s no blarney!
Hope Chapel is located at 2420 Pacific Coast Hwy, Hermosa Beach Ca. 90254. You may call me at 310-374-4673 x.121
To help you with your own St. Patrick’s Day excursions, here’s a special tract for you to download and hand out in your local pubs.
Two years ago “Righteous” Richard Chavarria experienced a huge disappointment that happens to all evangelism leaders eventually. Click here to see the tragedy.
I cannot believe that this video continues to get over a thousand hits a day, but I’m really glad because the Gospel gets preached—three times in a scant four minutes—to my target audience: unbelievers!
- Over 11,000 people have left comments (mostly, really nasty ones, so be warned.)
- 6,577 dislikes
- I believe the interviewee is still unsaved.
Why would I post a video that makes me look bad? Why am I proud that so many have watched it? Simply put, the Gospel is preached. But I have other reasons: (more…)
Is this you? (Stay for the nice twist ending.)
BRIDGEPORT, Ala. (AP) — Authorities in northeastern Alabama say a man dove into the Tennessee River after seeing his girlfriend’s car sinking and drowned in the fast-moving water. But authorities say he may not have realized the girlfriend had already escaped from the car and was helped to shore by a fisherman. Read the rest by clicking here.
***BONUS MATERIAL: “The Spurgeon Rap.” A friend just sent me a cool rap song about Charles Spurgeon. Listen to it here. ***
One of the books a friend bought for me is called “The Gospel Focus of Charles Spurgeon.” Guess what he talks about primarily? (See below the video for a sample of his emphasis.) I’m excited to start reading it.
In the mean time, here’s a great one hour documentary on Spurgeon called, “Charles Spurgeon: The People’s Preacher” that hits all the high points of his life. Save this link and watch it another day if you don’t have the time, but do watch it!
Here’s a sample taken from the book of what he said to sinners:
There are some in this place, who if they were labeled this morning as to where they are going, would have to be directed “to hell.” (more…)
Join us for an exciting time where almost anything goes at Venice Beach. Meet at Hope Chapel Hermosa Beach at noon to car pool on Saturday. I don’t know if I’ll have the nerve to preach in front of the beer garden again where I got splashed in the face a few years back…But, hey! Anything goes in Venice Beach!
Here’s a very interesting article in response to a very silly atheistic ad campaign that uses the billboard below. Using sound logic the author comes to to some stunning conclusions.
The Backyard Skeptics have unveiled a billboard that claims “Atheists make better lovers.” The atheist billboard tells us why atheists are better lovers. It’s not due to love but because “nobody is watching.” By “nobody” the atheists mean God.
Since there is no God who judges our behavior, men and women, men and dogs, women and horses, adults and children can do anything they want together. If there is no ultimate judge or judgment, everything is up for grabs.
Keep in mind that if no one is watching atheists make better lovers, then they can also make better wife beaters, sadists, thieves, batterers, and rapists. Click here to read the rest.
I recently banned an atheist from my blog for excessively rude and nasty language. He contacted me via my personal email and you can read it below. Following is my gracious response and condition for restoration which I hope he accepts.
You can censor me from your blog. Big deal. You’re still scum. You’re still a ghoul. You’re still a member of a death cult. You care nothing about that boy and its toll on his family. You only care about reinforcing your own beliefs and your twisted theology. It’s that simple. And I know what they are going through. I just hope none of them had to read your vile
[vile curse word deleted]. You and [Ray] Comfort and [Tony] Miano are the same. You all disgust me.
“Lester Ballard” AKA Rufustfirefly
And here’s my response to Lester/Rufustfirefly:
Thanks for your response. I’m sorry that you are so angry with my Sudden Death posts. (more…)
