The Internet is a wonderful thing; it opens lines of communication between people who would never meet or talk otherwise….
I sent a Facebook message to Madeleine Pickens, the wild horse activist and wife of billionaire T. Boone Pickens, whom my daughters gave some Gospel tracts to on New Year’s Day at the Tournament of Roses Parade. I thanked her for taking a photo with my kids and let her know that I was the pastor of evangelism at our church. I also gave her the link to the article on my blog.
Well, to my surprise, she sent me a message back!
Also, I forgot to tell you what T. Boone asked me when I took the picture of them both. Here were their messages:

Re: My daughters gave you the big money @ Rose Parade
What a great picture and article! Thank you so much for passing this along!! I am truly grateful to have your support and the mention of our organization on your site. We are trying to bring awareness to our cause and articles like this help us do just that. I wish you and your family the very best in the New Year!
It’s pretty cool that she wrote back, huh?
You’ll also be surprised to hear the question that the billionaire T. Boone Pickens asked me. Can you believe it? One of the richest men in the world asking me a question? Was it something about his next investment? Was he curious to know more about the message of the Gospel written on the phony money we gave him? Was he offering me a job?
Nope. None of those.
He asked me, “How much longer till the end of the parade?”
I bolstered my courage and spoke in my most authoritative voice, “Two more miles.”
I guess he had better things to do than offer a “Princess Wave” to the multitudes at this plebeian event.
