I’m sure Douglas Wilson has been accused of being a poor witness a few times for his writings, too… not that I’m in his league by any means…

Satire, as you know, is a very effective tool to get a point across. There will be those brothers on one side of the aisle cheering me on, and there will always be those other brothers saying that I have a demon.

I’m okay with that as long as people think about how they share their faith.

I could have been more clear – by infidels I meant those who disagree with your particaular approach to evangelism.
They will know we are his disciples by our love for one another. Your satirical dismissal of those “infidels” is a poor witness.

The Holy Spirit uses the “highly effective evangelist” when he uses the principles laid out in Scriptureas they are supposed to be used.

Lack of charity? I wrote:
“Make sure that when you share this Biblical principle of using the Law with a believing friend that you remain reasonable. Don’t fight. Don’t argue about it. Remain calm. Take a deep breath and… give them a copy of “Hell’s Best Kept Secret” or direct them to the Living Waters website where they can hear this teaching for free.”

And that we should love them. So where’s the lack of charity?

I didn’t describe the infidels “into the categories of threatened unbelieving cowards,” as you wrote. I was talking about Christians—in a satirical way.

A few have disagreed lovingly with me, but they never had an effective argument to persuade me that the use of the Law is not the most effective way to evangelize!

Is it the “highly effective evangelist? Or is it the Holy Spirit? Your claim of personal effectiveness and lack of charity with believers who disagree with you on a non-essential tenent (a particular style of evangelism) could suggest an almost cultic lack of actual intellection in your ministry. Particularly your lumping of all infidels into the categories of threatened unbelieving cowards expresses a defensiveness typical of those who hold to cultic beliefs that must not be challenged. Perhaps no one has disagreed lovingly with you. Still that is what you are called to.

Witnessing to Christians

A fairly frequent topic on this blog has been the phenomenon of witnessing to people who believe they are already Christians. It is often unpleasent when it happens, and it’s good to know that I’m not alone.
